Matt Cassel was a 7th round pick that never even started in college football. He's now thrown 2300 career passes in the NFL and has been named a started yet again. Brian Hoyer was a UDFA and he's now started games in Arizona and Cleveland, and is set to be the starter again.

Being good at coaching quarterbacks doesn't mean you have to have somehow nailed on a rare franchise quarterback while you're still riding the first hall of famer you discovered and coached. Sometimes it means taking guys that statistically should have been cut before the end of training camp and turning them into starters that keep finding work around the league.

I looked up Matt Cassel's numbers and he's actually been better than I thought, so I stand corrected there. And I do think Garappolo will be a good player.
