As much as I like Jimenez as a pitcher I hope the Yankees don't trade for him. Rockies are asking to much and its not going to be worth it in the long run imo

Well there's a big difference between the Gonzalez deal and any deal involving Jimenez because of the contract length (both contracts were friendly money wise). The Sox were only getting 1 year or Gonzalez, while any team that trades for Jimenez gets him through, I believe, 2013 with an option for 2014. That's huge and the biggest difference. If San Diego traded Gonzalez with more than a year left on his contract they would have gotten more for him that's just the way it works.

And no the Red Sox gave up 2 highly regarded prospects (Kelly and Rizzo) and 1 very good prospect (Fuentes) for Gonzalez. It was a very good/fair deal for both sides.

    yup.......

I am going out saying right now I have had it with Teixeria, he needs to get out of the 3-hole....he leaves more people on base, and kills more rallies.....and it hasnt been just this year, for the past few years....the 3-hole is reserved for your best all around hitter...Teixeria is hardly that....

Honestly I am shocked that the NY media, and the fans arent more on his case about it either....the grace period is over, produce Mark....the money invested is too much for you to bat sub-240 and hit nothing but HR's in spots where the team is either up or down by 5 runs....

Cano needs to be in the 3 hole, with Teixeria in the 5 hole...

Wow Granderson got beat up today. Ran into a wall, foul ball off leg, and hit by pitch in the back.

Robertson is the MVP of our bullpen man is he having a great year. Garcia pitching great also. Good win today

A win today by the Yankees would probably turn Tampa Bay into sellers with 10 days left until the trading deadline. Not sure who I'm rooting for tonight but I'm leaning towards New York, either way it's a win for the Red Sox.

Waldman was saying on her clubhouse report after the game, she was talking to him literally on the trainers table, that he is bruised up but nothing major....maybe he gets to DH, or a day off today....

Fink Fink Fink.....it is destiny Sox/Yanks ALCS, you should know by now that is the only thing that matters, you know you you are rooting for, you just dont want to admit it...

We should be sellers already. 8 games out in the best division in baseball. Casey Kotchman hitting in the middle of our lineup. getting the worst production in baseball out of our SS and C positions. Make some trades. Trade off a couple pitchers. Trade Kotchman and possibly Damon if theres a market. Call up Desmond Jennings and Brandon Guyer and move towards the off season where we can sign a couple hitters.

Okay I like and dont like this.....Jeter needs to be out of the leadoff spot, however he also doesnt need to be the number 2 either....moving Granderson down to the 3-hole is just plan stupidity...why cant they see that Tex needs to be the 5, and Cano the 3...christ!! Jeter the 9...

    1) Gardy
    2) Grandy
    3) Cano
    4) A-Rod (obviously when he is back)
    5) Tex
    6) Swish
    7) Nunez/Posada/Jones
    8) Martin
    9) Jeter

I mean come is it really that difficult?

Well he has one more season under contract, albeit arbitration eligible year, but I think we will try and keep him and see how it plays out for next year. Unless someone calls us and gets blown away by the offer, I'm willing to bet we will keep him. We will have the pitching to once again compete next season, we just have to upgrade our offense dramatically.

Agreed. Would you be willing to trade BJ Upton and James Shields for Colby Rasmus and some prospects from St. Louis? Or possibly BJ Upton for Dominic Brown?

I would trade BJ for Dominic Brown yes. I wouldn't trade BJ and Shields for Rasmus and prospects. Well maybe if the prospects include shelby miller. and i doubt the cardinals are willing to part with him.

lets be honest. we are not going to be able to afford Shields when he becomes a FA, unless we keep him next season and he regresses again. His value is at an all time high, we have pitchers that can step into the rotation with no much drop off. So I would be in favor or trading Shields if we can get back a nice haul. However, if we dont get the right offer, I would be willing to pay him next season, trade a couple other SPs, take the chance James doesn't implode next season and go for the gold.

Exactly, that's why I think everyone on their MLB roster right now not named Longoria, Zobrist, Price and Hellickson (unless I'm forgetting a prospect they recently called up like Torres or Cobb) should be shopping around to see what they can get. And I think Tampa Bay is smart enough to do just that.

I had a feeling Granderson would get a rest today. Should be a good game tonight. Happy 31st CC. I saw Yankees tweet today that said with 171 wins, he has a strong case for 300. Today is another step

Wow Kenny Singleton was a little harsh on Angel Berroa tonight. He was basically talking about Matsui and how he should have won ROTY, which I agree with, basicly said where is Berroa now? I thought that was.a little unfair. It's not Berroa fault and Hinske won the year before and he was never a great player either. Yeah Matsui should have won but Berroa had a good year as well.

I worry about his bodily makeup, he throws mid-90's and throws a nasty curve, he is a lanky dude...I wonder if it takes a toll on him after a while.....

okay now for some positive news....Laird is going down most likely today....
I dont think this guy will take this long to come back, although he shouldnt rush, they are 6.5 up on the WC at this point...got to admit though I cant wait to see him back....hopefully the power comes back...

Soriano just better keep his piehole shut and start logging some scoreless innings already...

Word is too, they are scouting Thorton the left-hander from the ChiSox....for the bully...

I actually wouldn't mind D-Ro get busted down because he's so great at cleaning up other people's messes, he's a great fireman. Soriano pitching a clean inning would be far better in terms of he's less likely to screw everything up.

Of course he could come in and clean up Soriano's messes too, but then we need someone to clean up messes before then.

I had heard and read from a few people that Yankee catching prospect Gary Sanchez's defense has been awful this year. I looked up some of his numbers and the guy has 26(!) passed balls in 52 games with 74 stole bases against out of 106 attempts (granted not really fair to judge since they could have been the pitcher's fault for them) but wow. To go along with getting suspended by the team twice for attitude problems he's not having the best year even at the plate. But on the brightside he's still only 18 years old. But figured I'd pass that information along.

yeah I saw that as well, 18 years old though is so young....hell Jeter had 30+ plus errors in the minors on year, and he turned out to be a pretty darn good fielding SS.....

now this gets me interested...wonder who they would send down, maybe Cervilli? I am all for it though, like Rizzo bring the 21 year old up, seeing some major league pitching, if he does bad ehhhh send him down again, but at least he will be hungry and want more....You have to think Fink, guys like Rizzo, and Montero all they hear is "cant miss" yada yada, so the complacency factor sets in especially being so young....at least if they get whitewashed in the Show, they need to know what they have to work on...Rizzo's stock didn't dip at all because he hit .160 or whatever, I say bring the kids up..!!

Jeter being a pretty darn good fielding SS is highly debatable.

As for Montero getting called up, I'd only call him up now if he was going to play everyday. It would be silly to have him lose development time by sitting on the bench and playing once or twice a week. My question is where is he going to play? The only place he realistically can fill in is at the DH position (he's not a MLB everyday catcher), so are the Yankees willing to bench Posada in favor of Montero? And if so will Posada be a team player and take the demotion like a man? I mean Posada has been pretty useless this year so the Yankees might as well try Montero there and give him 200 or so MLB at bats before the playoffs. Montero's stock has taken a bit of a hit as he hasn't really hit well this year after repeating at the Triple A level but again he's still so young that the power can still be developing.

If I were the Yankees and I thought he's ready they might as well give him a look, I'm not sure if Cevelli has any options left but he'd be the obvious one getting sent down to the minors as Montero could probably fake a game or two behind the plate if Martin needed a breather. I'm not one to rush the kids up at the MLB just to do it, I need to feel that they're MLB ready. I'll be honest I'm shocked Montero is still a Yankee right now so they might as well give him a shot.

Well in terms of the point I think he was making regarding errors, Jeter's a top 20 SS all time in Fielding%. Granted, I know that's not the be all end all for a complete defencive game, but if his point was Jeter stopped booting the ball all over the place, it makes sense.

Montero did have a good July, so at least he seems to be putting it together again. Posada has been sitting a bit more, but I find it hard to believe that they'd still find enough time for Montero and avoid Posada having a fit.

Cervelli I think has this year as his last option year, and would be the guy to go down I think. The fact Montero has to be added to the 40 man this offseason means it's only a matter of time until he's up.
