John Clayton thinks he would be available for any kind of a draft pick.

Dolphins QB John Beck is available for any compensation amount, according to ESPN's John Clayton.
Clayton says any team "need only make an offer" to get Beck. The Dolphins are still trying to clear any Cam Cameron holdovers off their roster. The Ravens could show some interest in Beck as competition for No. 2 QB Troy Smith.

I say we should keep him. But if we get rid of him, whatever.

John never got a fair shot, sad for him but I also never saw him as the Heir apparent he's too mild mannered to be the MAN..

I cant think of any passive QB that was great. All of the good ones command the huddle.

I'd really like to get at least a 4th rounder for him but I doubt that's happening. I'm just sad to say he was a waste of a 2nd round pick.

I wouldn't say he is a waste. He could still turn his career around. He's 27, not 37.

Makes me think if we do get rid of him before the Draft, then we might be really looking at adding Pat White. JMO.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Eli is the only one I can think of. But I don't consider him great. Just very good.

He's had a couple chances. He's had 2 unspectacular preseasons. And he played a couple of games where he was unimpressive. Maybe since we have a beefier offensive line he could do better but now I've completely lost faith in him. It's not really even his fault. He got drafted too high by a bad coach for the wrong team. His career got derailed by Cam Cameron. It's probably better for him if goes somewhere else and gets a fresh start. Maybe we can trade him to the jets for Vernon Gholston. :)

Eh, IMO Beck never really had much of a chance in Miami, and if he is traded it should serve as a warning to starting a young Qb on a terrible team, it just tarnishes them as long as they are with the team.

I can't see us taking a 7th for him. I wouldn't let him go for anything less than a 5th.

The Dolphins did bring in a QB draft prospect for a look at Davie which may be an alternative for a late round pick in case Beck is shipped out

Nah, no one is going to give us more than a 6th for him if that.

They know we don't want/need him and he hasn't proven anything and didn't show much when he was in.

I seriously see him getting shipped out during the second day of the draft for a 7th.

If reports were true that players did not respect him and would not play their best when he was at QB then its difficult to get that respect back .

A change of scenery will probably be a good thing for him.We have to move on.

I wish we'd get a high enough pick for him to use on T A&M QB Stephen McGee, but I don't see that happening now. :(

He had a chance here. Just bad ones. He wasn't drafted into a good situation for him. We didn't have the personnel or the coaching to give him a good start. That saying when he was given bad chances he didn't make the most of them. He was the wrong pick for this team and this team was the wrong pick for him.

I gotta disagree with you there Xeticus, Beck was meant to be treated like Henne has been, strictly a back up his first year...he was thrown into the fire on a really bad team and that was that more or less, add Pennington and Henne and he may as well play golf because he won't see the field barring a calamity.

unfortunately we are at the mercy of bidders and IMO wont get higher than a 6th. Its too bad after 7 professional games, 2 full TC's, 30,000 balls, and working exclusively with Lee, he still couldnt, "get it right".

True, he may have "thrown into the fire" but he hasnt improved his game at all. Seriously, when a QB fumbles snaps on almost a regular basis, how can you expect consistency

The Ravens would want him over Troy Smith.....

Mar 30, 2009, 10:01 PM

Let's not get into an argument over Beck guys. Trade him, and let him continue his career somewhere else.

Thanks for that post. It would not be bad to get another pick and maybe draft another young QB to spend a year with Chad Pennington

To be fair though, last pre-season, I don't think he fumbled a snap from Satele. He fumbled snaps from centers that were cut before the season started. Just saying.

we can argue that we don't want to let him go b/c we don't plan on resigning pennington. maybe that will give us 5th rounder for him. lol.

I hope he gets traded to a team with no QB. I would love to see what he would do over a full season.
