I’m so disappointed hearing the weather forecast. But it’ll be interesting seeing if either QB can throw in the wind/rain if the opposing team shuts down the other’s run game. I THINK the wind factor favors the Ravens. I feel as if the Ravens are a team far more capable of surviving or even thriving without a (or a severely limited) passing game. I THINK the rain favors the Titans. I wonder how the field holds up? If it’s sloppy I THINK that favors the Titans. I’ll take Henry’s downhill style over Jackson’s herky jerky style of running. I know Ingram is no slouch but Jackson is the one keeping everyone awake at night. Call me crazy but I trust Tannehill over Jackson if both teams are unable to establish a run game. Ive said an awful lot without saying much of anything so I’ll end it by making my prediction. The Ravens are the far better team. They win it 27-17. Doh! Is there a game day thread for this game? There should be! Can someone move this in there if there is?
One of my favorite examples of humans (mis)understanding randomness is the itunes situation a few year back. Apple actually had to make their playlists less random to adhere to false presumptions of unsystematic ways. There's an excellent class on EDX titled Science of Everyday Thinking which touches on a lot of our perceived fallacies. I'd recommend it for everyone as it provides great insight on how to think logically and make better decisions.
What's implied there is that Tannehill is dependent on his running game and defense. His defense has to control the other team's scoring so that his own team doesn't have to abandon its strong run game and put the offense on his shoulders. And that's certainly a sound strategy for this game, and for lots of games, but at the same time it indicates what Tannehill needs to be successful in the playoffs (and perhaps in general), which isn't true for all quarterbacks. We wouldn't be thinking Green Bay or Kansas City for example had to keep this game from evolving in such a way that it was put on Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes's shoulders. We'd think either of them had a decent shot of winning in a passing game shootout against the Ravens. And this is the problem with quarterbacks with average individual ability, who need so much of the rest of their team to play well for them and their team to succeed. It's a tall order. Much easier obviously to be able to put much more of the game on the quarterback's shoulders.
No; hardly. It's just that I am not going to waste my time running pointless laps 'round and 'round your cul-de-sac of stupidity.
If ravens can’t run the ball under normal ask I bet ya they just pivot to Lamar Jackson with it instead of a change of pace option. I don’t know why baltimore wouldn’t be able to run the ball vs tbe titans d. But that would be an ideal scenario for the titans. Force them to do something else.
So it's a negative for Tannehill that the Titans have Henry beasting and he should get fed the ball? Is it also a negative that Henry started beasting when Tannehill took over? BTW, still waiting on your breakdown of a mere 15 throws by Tannehill to support your assertion that Tannehill played poorly. I'm not gonna let that go, even though you continue to throw out more unsubstantiated arguments.
Zone read with Jackson and Ingram should be a problem and the passing off of it when the titans lbs get nosy. Which they will to try and stop the run. They have no other choice. Might even see some triple option. And watch out for mark andrews. That dudes a stud. If Jackson’s errant I bet ya it’s gonna be high.
That’s going to make tonight’s game a run heavy offense for both teams and strategic, opportunistic passes. This could indeed favor the Titans. Henry is a beast
Well the other thing is... IF EITHER OF THEM HAD DERRICK HENRY, everyone would be saying that they should feed Henry and not depend on passing in the projected weather conditions.
I think it favors baltimore because Jackson is not a pre snap and progression read qb and a more natural runner. His legs are built more into their game plan. And he’s the higher threat to outflank. The kids rediculously fluid.
Anybody that doesn’t think Mark Ingram is legit downhill should be ignored. Cause he is and that outflank qb threat with him downhill inside and off tackle I mean it’s a problem. They will try to get the lbs to take false steps with dummy action across the formation etc and create natural run lanes/creases inside. this isn’t some runaway better rb with Henry or scheme one. No way titans gonna have their hands full.
If I’m being honest I think Baltimore’s gonna roll tonight. I don’t see the titans with an extra week for baltimore being able to deal witb that run game and the things that come off it. I just don’t. And I don’t think that weather helps either. I think the titans are gonna be chasing it.
Let's look at your comments about Tannehill over the years. Granted about two out of five of every post was on needing to run more and for some bizarre reason one out of five about Russell Wilson (you post more about Wilson then a Seahawk fan on a Seagull Fan Forum). Bot on those occasions when you analyzed Tannehill you said he doesnt have what it takes to win. but apparently that doesnt mean he sucks in DJs lexicon Tannehill doesnt have the skills to be a pocket QB and since thats the only offense he runs that implies.........? now he's a flawed below average QB but apparently in DJ's english this is a level that is not quite sucking yet now the truth comes out. Everyone is clamoribng for Tannnehill to be cut or traded so now he's not even starter quality but he still doesnt suck. yeah ok this was one of my final quotes on tannehill at the end of the season where everybody wanted him gone
That's certainly consistent with the point spread (-10). Of the 60 divisional round playoff games in the NFL since 2004, only 13% of them have involved point spreads at least that large. The Ravens are a heavy favorite when considering the greater-than-normal parity among teams in the playoffs.
i would have rather played the chiefs but either way you get to this point your hands are gonna be full regardless. Nice that the pats have gone fishin’
In case you guys haven't heard, offense are not impacted at all by defenses. See, the team that scores the most wins, so point differential is the best indicator of winning. Ergo, defense, means nothing. Offensive lines don't mean anything either they are all the same. Come to think of it, neither does the run game. All that matters is the QB. I watch games thru math.
Oddly enough the last 8 times a team in the playoffs were favored by 10+?? They are 8-0 vs the spread. I think that streak is snapped this weekend.
Bingo. I touched briefly on some of the Ravens pistol and the threat of eye candy they pose earlier. https://www.thephins.com/threads/titans-to-start-ryan-tannehill.94693/page-93#post-3242501
You think Houston has a shot on KC? Or you talking about Titans / Ravens? Titans / Ravens just really feels like 38-20 Ravens to me. Hope I'm wrong.
I'd bet heavy on the Ravens, even -10. How many times have you seen a team rise to the challenge, especially with their home crowd behind them, with regard to stopping a stud running back. And if they can get Henry stopped, which I think they will, it'll be a blowout. In the second half the Titans will be down big, the Ravens will pin their ears back, and Tannehill will be a sack machine. The play-action will be meaningless at that point, and Tannehill will not do well as a dropback passer against that team in that situation.
Which deshaun watson is gonna show up? The one that takes due to primarily inability to read the field bad sacks playing school yard football who looked like the first half the year he had kicked the habit but seems to be creeping back in the second half the season and the playoffs? The first half the year top 5 mvp worthy watson? Or tbe latter? I have a feeling the latter shows up on tbe road the wheels come off.
Tannehill had a passer rating of 106 on non play action passes this season. His passer rating while trailing or leading was 117. His passer rating in the first and second halves where nearly identical. His passer rating in the 4th quarter was 118. You are going to have to work harder to discredit Tannehill this season.
