The Yukon Gold Rush, after an 0-3 start and change of ownership, has advanced to the Canadian AA Western Conference finals, scheduled for Friday. The Rush went on an impressive 6 game wining streak to secure the second seed in the playoffs and has impressed in the playoffs so far, beating the Thunder Bay Storm 19-3 and the Saskatoon Raiders 23-7 - the largest margins of victory in the West postseason. The only points given up in yesterday's conference came on the big play, where CB Sam Surtain was beaten deep by his man after biting on a pump fake from the QB. Rookie CB Devin Ginn kept the score at 7-6 with a touchdown saving goal line tackle of the Raiders RB to end the first half. His return skills continue to impress, with some insiders speculating that he may replace Molester Hester as the primary returner as soon as next game. The Rush exploded in the second half with 17 unanswered points as their defense completely shut down the opposition. Rookie G Jason 'Murderface' Johnson also continues to move up the depth chart and appears to have secured the primary backup role there as well. The Gold Rush will face the #1 Seed Drinkin Hellraisers in the Conference final, with the winner advancing to the League Final agaist either the Wall Knights or the Brown Trout. Originally believe to be a display of the Yukon rushing attack against the Hellraiser's passing game, the Rush has found a suprisingly balanced offense in the post season, shocking many opponents who were focused on shutting down the Gold Rush's power running game. The winner of this game will also move up to the Canadian West AAA confference. Many point to the proximity of the Hamilton Steel as an instant new rivalry. Rumors continue to circulate of the team owner showing favoritism to certain players with connections to ThePhins.com fan powerhouse website. Thanks for the support guys, unfortuantely we didn't get it done and our 8 game streak comes to an end. I do like the fact we'll play against some of our 'rivals' again next season, though. Losing that is the down side of the promotion league rules.
