As Isaac moves up through Louisana and Mississippi and dumps unbelieveable amounts of rain, in particular in New Orleans, please pray for the safety of folks in its way. The outer bands of Isaac are just approaching Jackson, MS, where I live. It is ironic that Isaac is here today because as many of you may recall, this is the anniversary of Katrina. We are thankful this storm is not at that intensity, but it is still dangerous. Our governor just reported close to 40 rescues on the coast utilizing the National Guard. Would be great to ride it out watching the Dolphins on the internet, but will be content in a safe situation if the power goes off. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for the people of the Gulf Coast.
good luck to you, i read isaac was reduced to "only" a tropical storm, no more hurricane in that sucker
Stay dry and safe brother! Love that whole area, especially New Orleans. Hoping you all come out of this storm much much better than Katrina.
I live on the Gulf Coast. I will tell you this: this storm packed way more punch than some locals anticipated. We had the NE corner of the storm (the section with the most intensity), and I have not been able to walk outside to pick up the debris strewn about my 4 acres. Last night, I could not sleep because the wind was howling pretty steadily. Our section of the coast has been under a tornado warning for most of yesterday and today. Pretty scary stuff. I honestly thought I heard one last night. My four year old daughter has kept me calm, though. She's just as happy as if the sun were shining. Her mother and I are trying to keep it cool for her, but it is still pretty scary, nonetheless. We typically do not have basements down here because of the high water tables, so we'll just have to hope a tornado does not swing through. The winds are still howling at around 50-60 mph, and the rain has not let up a drop. I am glad that our generator has not kicked on but once, but even with power, this is the most scared I have been since having a family. They look to me for comfort and safety. Oddly, I am finding that comfort in my daughter.
Be safe! We're all thinking of all affected by the storm. Check in when you can so we know you're all right!
