    Well away from here
Running a run first offense isn't always boring. You can pound the run and hen look to take shots down the field. That can be exciting, its when you use play action on 3rd and a mile or attempt to run WR out in a pattern that it gets boring.

Except when the run-first offense is predicated on the success of two washed up bums.... or in the case of next year, a fullback and HBCBS' #1 customer.

Thats what I was thinking.....1985???? 1985???? I could only dream we had an offense like we did in 1985...

I agree, the Chiefs were one of my favorite teams to watch last season.

I wouldn't compare the Dolphins to the Lions because the last I checked, the Lions beat the Dolphins last year. In fact I would take the Lions roster right now over the roster of the the Dolphins. As far as to why I am a pessimist regarding the Dolphins. The first reason is that I do not have confidence in Sparano and Ireland to make the team anything more than an average to below average NFL team. I also do not believe that Henne is a starting caliber QB in the NFL. The interior of the offensive line is terrible and the running back position is in need of a severe upgrade. While I do think the defense is a quality NFL defense. They are certainly not good enough to play the caliber of ball needed to support what is one of the worst offenses in the NFL. I hope nothing more than I am totally wrong about this coming season and that the Dolphins turn out to be a playoff caliber team which can compete with the Patriots and the Jets for the AFC East title. Right now though I just don't see it happening and it would not surprise me in the least if the Dolphins don't finish the season with a record of 4-12 or possibly 5-11. If I end up being wrong about the team and the coaching. I will have no problem getting on here and admitting I was wrong. In fact when the season is over, I would love nothing better than to admit that Sparano, Ireland, and the players were much better than I thought they were.

I watched both games. They don’t win those without McCoy. Seneca Wallace or Jake Delhomme would not have brought home the W.

Ya it's really tough to find a QB who can combine for almost 250 yards in 2 games.

By that logic, Trent Dilfer might just have more signature wins than any other QB.

    good point.

why not? GB at Lambeau where he played a good game? Come from behind to beat Brady? (and NE pretty much collapsed like a deck of cards against Cleveland if we're being honest).

    lol No, I must not.

I mean if I did I'd never miss those huge signature wins that accounted for so much. I mean surely there were no bigger factors in either game than McCoy's combined 250 yards and 0 TDs.

How could I overlook such signature performances? I'm sure Chad Henne is studying the film as we speak.

I also love how we crucify Henne and Sparano for their inefficiency in the red-zone, yet McCoy is a better QB bc he has 2 signature wins over NE and NO where he produced all of zero TDs.

With the Packers, they were barely able to field 22 starters that week. Rodgers was coming off a concussion. Clay Matthews was out. Those were huge breaks for Henne. That GB game was apples to oranges, IMO.

The Patriots… well, you probably have a point there, but I’m generally reluctant to file division wins under the “this looks good on the career resume” category. For example, I don’t think it’s a signature win if Matt Schaub notches a win against the Colts, or if Joe Flacco beats the Steelers. But if Schaub beats the Saints, or Flacco beats the Bears, those are notable.

You know what tells me that you’re blowing hot air? You’re actually completely leaving out other contributing performances that would make a better point than simply reading off McCoy’s stat line.

Watch the games. Then get back to me.

yup...... the Skins in the 80's with Riggins stompin fools while Theismann drops bombs over the top. Great stuff. That offense made a HOFer out of a good but not elite QB IMO. That's what I was hoping we'd be with Henning. :sidelol:

lmao And you know what this tells me?

You might be illiterate and/or have some memory problems since the first post I made in this thread about McCoy included those factors.

    Yikes.

Yep, you caught me. I’ve actually been unable to read everything you’ve written all along. In fact, I have no idea what you just said! I’m replying blind! I’m not even typing this, someone else is doing it for me, because I can’t actually read the letters on my keyboard. Oh, the shame.

fair enough. I can understand your point on the 2nd part. How about any win vs Brady counts, and wins vs NY count if the game has implications or if he's the main reason we win? Like, if we won the 1st Jets game, that would've been a sig win for Chad because he was lights out. That's fair, no?

I understand your point with GB, but I gotta disagree with you. If it were any other team I wouldn't bring it up, but it's the Packers at Lambeau where we handed them their only home loss of the year. After the game, I somewhat dismissed the quality of the win, but as the season progressed, they kept finding ways to win despite constantly being battered. If the Steelers & Ben couldn't defeat them with a beat up secondary during the biggest game of the year, then I have to give Henne some credit for doing so. Just my reasoning, and I still respect yours.

Would a boring team ask a player if his mom was a hooker?
Would a boring team have a player crash his truck into a palm tree then run away?
Would a boring team have an oc yell at a future prospect?

    Nay I say, sir, nay.

A boring team wouldn't have that either.
