I wonder if the Elite and regular 360 will get a drop. I've been waiting to get a 360 when I saved up enough money after buying my PS3 and now it looks like it won't be long. Plus I wonder if this means a drop in price for the PS3 (seems like Microsoft is stopping Sony's momentum before it gets too far).
I would think there would be a drop on all the different versions of the 360 but I could be wrong. I mean heck, if they didn't drop the arcade version there would only be like a $20 difference between the two right? And you aren't the only person wondering if the PS3 will match the drop, common opinion seems to be no but only time will tell.
thats good news for those who haven't bought one yet. A very very badly kept secret that it was coming though.
With stuff like this I dont know if they really want to keep it a true secret or not. Let the word leak out and the hype build up so that people go out and grab it as soon as the price drops. Its how I would do it at least, get as many people talking about it as possible for as long as possible.
Hey if I bought the 360 again I'd get the Arcade Version. I don't really need the hard drive since I'd only own 2 or 3 games max
I hope they drop the price of the Elite as well, I would consider getting the upgrade from my launch day one...
Well it appears that the PS3 isn't getting a price cut anytime soon (well from what we know now anyway). Here is the link: http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/3380.html
I still think they aren't making money on the consoles, so it isn't really surprising. They are still selling well because they are one o the best BR players out there.
I agree with both points. However you would think that since the Sony Gaming Division (I believe that's the name) is making money that they could stand to do a price cut but if they do it will because 360's are flying off the shelves after its price cut. Otherwise they won't and I'm sure if they are losing money on each PS3 that will also keep the prices up (but I thought I read they had cut costs due to new chips or something not sure though).
Also its pretty much official now that Sony won't drop the PS3 price because its game division is still losing money although the losses are roughly half what they were last year at this point. Also the Xbox 360 Pro will be $299. Here's the link: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6193650.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;1
Honestly I am wondering what will happen with the Arcade Version. It would only make sense to drop the price but what would make even more sense is to phase it out (because it would cost more to buy the arcade version then by a hard drive than to get the Pro (even if its later on because most people will want to get online or download things)). If they do keep the Arcade Version it should go down to at least 229.99 if not even less.
Damn. I wish I had known this yesterday. I just bought the XBox 360 Pro YESTERDAY! Do you think they'd allow me to get a refund of the $50 if this is true?
I see them dropping the price on the remaining Arcade versions to blow them out and the Pro will be the lowest end system.
New developments in the story have just became official (THERE WON'T BE A PRICE REDUCTION FOR THE PRO BUT RATHER THE 20GB WILL BE PHASED OUT FOR A 60GB MODEL WITH THE 20GB AT $299 "WHILE SUPPLIES LAST"). Here are the details: The 20GB Pro will be $299 "While Supplies Last" then the 60GB Pro will debut at $349 in early August. So the new lineup will be the Xbox 360 Arcade = $279, Xbox 360 Pro 60 GB = $349, and the Xbox 360 Elite = $449 (which means the Arcade and Elite "will not" see a price cut). So the prices will be the same and this isn't actually a price cut but rather the 20GB being phased out and discounted with a new 60GB taking its place at the $349 price. Basically the Pro will now be 60GB instead of 20GB and that's the only difference and if you can find a 20GB its reduced sort of like a going out of business sale. Not quite as big of news as we all thought but at least for a little while we can get the 20GB at a discount. If your talking about the 20GB then yes you can still buy one until they run out of stock because they've been discontinued with a 60GB replacing them in early August. I would figure the 20GB will be in stock until August/September depending on how well the $299 price moves them.
Well since you bought it so recently I would think that most stores have a refund policy for at least 30 days (I bought my PS3 at Target which has a 90 day return policy) so you should get a refund. If they won't give a refund and only allow you to trade it in for another 20 GB 360 Pro wait for the mark down (within your return range remember) and take it back with your receipt and I would think that you would give the difference ($50 bucks + tax). So because you bought it so recently the store return policy should still be in effect so do that and see what happens. Just say you plugged the 360 in and got the red ring of death or something else equally bad. Hope this helps. Also I'm sure others on here can tell you some other options but I'm sure you should be able to get the discount without much of a problem.
My friend bought an XBox 360 a while ago for $300. How much for just the regular XBox 360? How much better is the "Premium"? I was thinking of going out either Tuesday or Thursday and buying a 360 and NCAA Football '09. I have a PS2 and just am going to get rid of it for like, $50 or whatever I can possibly get for it from GameStop.
Let me help you out. The Arcade 360 is $279 it comes with no hard drive, the Pro (or premium) 360 is $349 and has a 20 GB hard drive, and then there is the 360 Elite which has a 120GB hard drive. Now the Arcade is useless if you want to play online (as I am pretty sure you need a hard drive) and the Elite is black instead of white and is for the gamer who wants a lot of storage for demos, movies, etc. So most people go with the 20GB Pro. However this is where right now is a great time to buy a 360. Starting this Monday (July 21) the Pro 360 is scheduled to be $299 until the new Pro 360 comes out. So if you want to get a 360 your best bet would to be to wait until next Monday so you can save $50. Now if you can wait another couple weeks you can get the New Pro 360 with a 60GB hard drive for $349 (the price the current 20GB Pro is now). So if you want to save money and get the full 360 experience with online play wait until Monday and get the 20GB Pro for $299. Also if you need some extra storage and 20GB isn't enough but 120GB is too much then wait until around the First of August and get the 60GB Pro for $349 which is what you would pay for a current Pro. Extreme short synopsis: Xbox 360 Arcade (with no hard drive): $279 Xbox 360 Elite (Black with 120GB hard drive): $449 Xbox 360 Pro 20GB ($349 now - $299 as early as next Monday (pretty much confirmed)) Xbox 360 Pro 60GB ($349 when its released in early August) Hope this helps.
Most big box stores have a 30 day price match (best buy, target, CC, walmart, etc), you could get a 20gb 360 now, and just take your receipt back for the refunded difference when the price officially lowers.
Yeah that's what I was telling a poster earlier in this thread who bought a 20GB Pro a few days ago. So you could wait or take it back either would be fine.
