According to PFF Hartline's catch percentage is almost identical to what it was last year. No improvement as a result of having Wallace on the other side. And as you acknowledge his YPRR and yards per target are down from last year. In other words, he has been less efficient with Wallace than he was last year without him. And no, I don't agree with what Sherman says. I don't agree with him about a lot of things. Sherman was also the guy who gushed with praise over Wallace's 2 catch, 39 yard game a few weeks ago. Even Wallace acknowledged that was ridiculous. Wallace is not drawing the attention of two safeties. He's drawing the attention of the one safety into whose zone he goes. Just like any other WR. That's how zone defense works. If the S is covering a specific player, as opposed to an area of the field, it is not zone coverage. But we are not seeing safeties dedicated to Wallace. Again, if Wallace has such an effect why isn't it reflected in the Dolphins' passing numbers? Why isn't there a drop off in the Steelers pass offense? Antonio Brown and Jericho Cotchery are more productive and more efficient without Wallace than they were with him.
It is prototypical coach speak. It's one of the traditional NFL thoughts that stats are proving wrong. Hartline's EPA/P is the same this year as it was last year. Charles Clay's is only marginally better.
From 2010 to 2013, I tallied up all of the pressure statistics among 4-3 DEs and 3-4 OLBs and these are the top 10 most efficient pass rushers among those with at least 200 pass rush snaps. NAME SNAP/PRESSURE RATIO *Brandon Graham 5.82 *Aldon Smith 6.03 *Cameron Wake 6.22 *Antwan Barnes 6.48 *Tamba Hali 6.51 *Charles Johnson 6.54 *DeMarcus Ware 6.57 *John Abraham 6.70 *Lamarr Woodley 6.75 *Trent Cole 6.78 If you expand it out to a top 20 then you also capture guys like Marcus Benard (#14), Jason Worilds (#17) and Jerry Hughes (#18).
ive really not followed his career after college and when he got hurt that first year, I think he also got hurt in the beginning if his 2nd year as soon as he came back, but anyway, man did he have talent, I think we both had him as our first round pick that year..
Yeah once the Dolphins traded for Brandon Marshall (which I didn't like at the time), Brandon Graham shot to the top of my list at that #12 spot. Otherwise I'd have taken Dez Bryant.
