First, Happy New Year to everyone!

Now, the question is will ross attempt to play financial chicken with the fan base? Will he really stick with irish as gm thus preventing a top HC to come to SoFla? After today's game it will be the moment of truth

folks. In this early stage of his ownership ross is at a crossroad so to speak. You miss on the coach, you miss on the qb, that's another four years wasted. Can he afford to have the franchise hemorrhage money

any longer especially after this past season? If ticket sales were bad in '11 ross will witness negative financial results of epic proportions in 2012. No exaggeration on my part, it's just that it seems he doesn't

realize you don't mess around with this fan base given what we've been through. If ross continues to be blinded by his stubbornness and if he truly believes we'll be the first to blink, our Phins will have a new owner soon after.

He has to get this right or it will quickly get real ugly. I am not sure how much faith I have in him to get this done right, after the embarassing Harbaugh fiasco. That said, I don't think we can say he's a bad owner, yet. Too soon to know. Mainly because I do believe that he does want to improve the team.

How can people say it was a Harbaugh disaster? He was the right coach to go after (his record proves it). He just should have fired TS first. I buy his explanation on it though. He was a new owner and didn't know how to do it right. He will never make that mistake again.

And how does keeping Ireland prevent us from attracting a top Head Coach? Either they're making alot of assumptions or they personally know these Head Coaches and they speak to you about their feelings. I'm guessing people who say this have never even met these men.

There is not a single NFL owner that suffers "negative financial results of epic proportions" from NFL related revenue, and Ross will be no different next year.

And he's sure messing around with the fan base, and trying to make us blink first. :eyeroll: Not like he's trying to improve the gameday experience, improve the stadium and its amenities, or keep the game broadcasted locally despite games not being soldout just to name a few.

If he is able to trade up for Luck then it won't matter what else happens b/c the fan base will come back. That's part of why trading up for Luck makes so much sense. Even if you can't evaluate QBs and you assume he's no more likely to succeed as any other former #1 pick, you have to know that he brings the fans back.

Well early word from today is the fans are like 60% Jets fans...I'm sure Ross loves being the road team in their home stadium.

I think the top coaches and personnel look at our situation as one of the worst in the NFL. Jeff Ireland is not a popular guy right now compared to other NFL GM's. Unless Ross throws extra money, Miami is not an NFL destination for people right now.

Sure he can......He is a billionaire. Will he..............most likely. He's been doing it for 4 years. He will do only what he knows which is to throw money at it. Unless the fan base is loud you will most likely see the status Quo for a few months anyway. Which, if he hesitates and then pulls the trigger, will not only give other teams a head start but will further ****** next years attempt at mediocrity...............

Ross got booed by a large chunk of the crowd when he came out for the JT ceremony. JT didn't get booed, so no it wasn't Jets fans booing.

ross won't win either way....he needs THE coach, he needs THE Qb, THE coach needs staff, HE needs an offensive line...he'll never win...he gets the coach, but no qb, he gets the qb no coach or he gets neither...a splash is wonderful, but it doesn't always work..he needs a solid football mind and then build from there....i just don't see ross coming out a winner, whatever he does or doesn't do is going to get criticized anyhow

I certainly hope Ross does what is necessary in the off season to bring excitement back to the fan base. I know it has been very difficult for me, as a fan since 1966, to get excited about this franchise since he took over as the majority owner of the Dolphins. The Dolphins have always been my first love when it comes to local sports teams. Yet, yesterday I watched most of the Dolphins game on television before I left my house to attend the Heat game.

Hopefully Ross can make the changes to the organization which will make me want to attend the games next season, and not just watch part of a game, before I head out to watch the Heat play a game at home.

Having Ireland does not preclude the team from hiring whoever it likes as head coach. We have seen this before. Ireland stays as GM but the coach is his boss. After the draft, if the coach likes him Ireland stays. If he doesn't, he gets canned.

I'm not saying Ross is planning to do that (my gut tells me he won't -- he'll hire a young and cheap coach), but Ireland's presence does not mean anybody is off the table.
