http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/563736.html Feely under microscope because of his mouth http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/
He did have a good year last year kicking FG's, but his depth on kickoffs is the major concern. Thats the only thing I miss about Mare, we were almost guaranteed a touchback. Feely does need to keep quiet. It's ok to be a leader, and speak out in the lockeroom when its to make a positive impact, but there are some things that should be left unsaid.
Its not like he is talking crap. Kickers are players too...Just cause he kicks for living, dosent mean he has to be a nobody.
i'll be honest...i never liked the times he seemed to be the 'team representative', i agree that he should be seen and not heard. isn't he part of the players association or something like that?
Yeah... I liked that he was so good on the field last year. But... I believe in building a cohesive ocker room, without strong 'me'-oriented, dissenting voices. That's not a team. Feeley lost me with this line "`I don't know any guy on this team that worked harder than me this offseason." I just don't like it. Don't like the ego centrism of it. The poor teammate-ism (to invent a word) of it, as instead of praising everyone or being connected to everyone, he puts the other people down slightly while eelevating and separating himself from the others. Don't like it. I respect Jay Feeley as a strong-minded man, but don't want to start a rebuild with a mouthpiece that has constant dissenting thoughts. Even *if* he quiets down, he'll simmer and be bristley about the gag-order. You want players who HAPPILY buy in to what EVERYONE is doing. who march in step. We don't have the most talent in the league,so we better function as a cohesive TEAM to win games. Guys like feeley don't help with that unity. Bpk
But...he kicks field goals with a consistency that is matched by a small number of kickers. He stays.
