OK, guys... I bought myself a 2000 pts card and I want to grab a few oldies. Now, I don't know how they are emulated on the Wii (for example is the NES Punch Out, 'Mike Tyson's Punch Out' with Tyson at the end or is it with Mr Dream or whatever his name is?)... So any suggestions as to what plays good of the old school stuff on the Wii?
It is Punch-Out!! - no Mike Tyson. I'll give you a few games nobody's played: StarTropics for the NES Comix Zone for the Genesis Both very cool.
Honestly, just browse and see catches your eye. I'm partial to the SNES era--Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Breath of Fire II, Harvest Moon, and Zelda: Link to the Past are all worth your attention. Remember, if you play anything other than NES or some TG-16 games, you need a Classic Controller or a Gamecube controller.
Ghosts 'n Goblins Super Mario World Super Mario Bros 3 Tecmo Bowl (unfortunately they don't have Super Tecmo Bowl)
Does this mean that the TG-16 and NES games are going to play via the Wii remote? Are they interactive like the Wii games?
Not that I know of, some of them you can use the D-pad and A and B buttons on the Wiimote but the classic controller is best for pretty much all of them.
No they weren't. People like you and I know what those games are, but those games were nowhere near runaway hits. They had cult followings. Do you remember the original Final Fantasy being one of the biggest games, too?
i give you that for Star Tropics, but Comix Zone had commercials and all kinds of media craziness. And no, I think I was the only one I knew with the original FF.
I remember Comix Zone being hyped up in the magazines, but I didn't know one other person who had the game. I remember when my buddy got the Sega Channel (must've been 1997 or so...) everybody I knew was surprised at how good the game was. I, too, was the only person I knew with FF back in the day. Most people today think FF was big from the get-go, but they don't realize that in the beginning, there were only a small amount of us who loved RPG's.
