I took my lunch at 10am (9:50 actually) and went to a local used game (and cd/movie) store, and got their only one a few minutes after they opened. I was considering going to a 24 hour wal-mart last night, but that never happened, and of course everywhere I had asked last week was reserved out already. So I feel lucky, and know my g/f will be happy as she wanted it. Perhaps it will make up for not getting her a birthday gift*.

    Anyone else get one?

    Anyone "play" it?

*The Wii was actually her birthday gift, and she acknowledges it as such, I just gave it to her a month or so before her birthday because I found one for $200. I just feel bad because I didn't give her anything on her actual birthday (which was saturday). Though she says I don't have to get her anything.

Be careful, it may hurt your feelings by saying your fat or overweight. It did that to a girl and now her parents are demanding apoligies from Nintendo.

    Oh noes the humanity!!

You gotta be kidding! If you don't know you are over weight before you step on the thing then you are either a deaf, blind paraplegic, or dead. My wife and I both know we need to loose some weight and this looks like a fun way to start.

The girl was in England, and was like 12. She wasn't fat, but the BMI isn't accurate for people under 20 (nor is it 100% accurate anyways). These people need to get a grip, it's still just a ****ing game.

I fully expect it to tell me I am overweight, and won't be surprised if it tells me I am fat instead.

I expect it to scream get off get off!! That sucks it hurt a 12 year old girls feelings but like you said it is just a game. Maybe in the manual they should have added that it may not be accurate for minors.

I'm waiting to finish up GTAIV to get this. I'm wondering how intense a workout it is. Anybody working up a real sweat with this thing yet? I'd love to be able to replace my treadmill routine with half an hour on the Wii every night.

Or you can just run a few laps around youir neighborhood.

How sad is it that people would rather buy a game that simulates excercise then actually excercising?

    FYI.....

This thing does more than just exercising games. This is the same stuff people said about the Wii itself when it came out, that seems to have worked out okay.

Apparently you don't realize that you actually do exercises as part of the "game."

Also, it helps track your "health" and would essentially allow you to plan out a routine to workout to including wii fit and external activities.

Ok, for starters, it has me listed around 2 pts under obese (which is not unusual based on BMI). I thought it was cool that it adjusted my mii when it found that out. 2nd, I have pretty damn good center of balance, and my Wii Fit age is only 25, so I must not be that out of shape (maybe they are being generous though).

But I'm off to do some of the actual training stuff now, I'll post more later.

PS: Board is super solid, and it comes with "booster" attachments for carpet which is nice for my apartment. Very good sensors in the thing too so far.

OK, I did a few activities last night; a couple in the strength training and a couple in the balance.

I started out with push-ups, and the way they have you do it is a really good method, but I have to have my first complaint about the wii fit board in this instance as it seems a tad shorter than ideal to do this workout for me. Maybe I've always done push ups wrong, but I usually keep my hands shoulder width apart, and on the board that is like right at the edge or not possible, either way it was sort of uncomfortable to do it with my hands on the board. Aside from that, I found my self also sliding on the board, but that may just because of my hands.

2nd, I did tummy twists or something. It gives you a nice display after this activity to show you your center of balance (to make sure you are only twisting, and not bending), but it would be nice if they had this like in the corner during the work out. Minor complain though.

Next came lunges (I think I picked that one, it may have been extensions, but anyway) and that was a pretty effective workout (though you'd have to do a lot more reps or series for it to really work well). It has a bar during the workout where it tells you to try and keep the weight on one of your legs above the blue bar (which is about 70% up this bar), and I kept it well above this line on almost every rep, then at the end it said I must be strong, lol.

After that I decided to do lighter stuff, and I ended up doing all the balance activities. They are all fun, but all take some getting used to. I think the marble roll was my favorite, with the next being the ski slalom. I had a complaint about the soccer head butt, because at first I was moving my head but kept my center of balance relatively well, so the sensor didn't pick up me hitting the ball when it definitely should have. So I am going to have to work at changing how I do that game, as the best I could muster after 3 tries was 50 pts (you get 80 balls hit at you, and get bonus point fo chains, but if you get hit by cleats of the other miis you lose points).

All in all, though I only have a brief glimpse so far I would give it an 8 as far a game scoring thing goes. But I think the lasting appeal will be pretty good with the right mindsets, and I will allow myself to reevaluate the score once I do more.

 I can't wait for the UPS man to get here some time today with our Wii! My wife picked the fit up a couple days ago and after your review I am excited to get going with it. Being active while playing a game is real appealing to me and I would imagine help keep my wife and I on track to loose some not so needed weight.

ok I guess I need to keep my wife from hearing about this Wii Fit thing. I have a hard enough time trying to weasel my way out of exercise. I'll surely own a Wii if she hears about this.
