We've seen slicksters Pat Riley and Jimmy Johnson, serious sorts Joe Girardi and Mike Keenan, smokers Jack McKeon and Jim Leyland. We've even survived a slimeball, Nick Saban.

Now brace for the new style of South Florida coach: Newbie Mentee.

This week, Erik Spoelstra took over the Heat. Today, Tony Sparano leads his first Dolphins minicamp. They are 37 and 46, respectively. Neither has major head coaching experience. Each benefits from diminished expectations.
