Who has made a huge step from last year to this year and really become a big contributor to the team? -Scout
Vontae Davis is top of my list. Struggling to think who else has made a huge jump. Wake maybe. But has he really got much better or is he just seeing more playing time?
Progressed: Henne. Wake. Langford. Bess. Davis. Smith. Clemons. Soliai. Allen. Regressed: Starks. Carey (a little). Bell.
I agree with your progressed list, though I'd put Jake Long up there too. I also agree with your regressed list (sadly).
I disagree, even with his ups and downs I'd bet he's better than a handful of starting CBs in the league.
The poster asked for players who progressed. Clemons and Allen have progressed. And I disagree about Allen not being a productive player. He's made some plays this year. He's had his inconsistencies this year, sure, but you can say that about maybe 55 of the 64 starting cornerbacks in this league. Not saying he's at their level but he has made some plays. I am confused by your Langford comment. Solid to really solid to a damn good football player?
Improved: Anthony Fasano. Tony McDaniel. Vontae Davis. Chris Clemons. Chad Henne. Brandon Fields. Cam Wake. Jeff Ireland. Regressed: Ronnie Brown. Lou Polite. Ricky Williams. Brian Hartline. Yeremiah Bell. Vernon Carey. We all knew Bess would thrive with Marshall on board, and that Starks would see more double teams with Ferguson retired. The biggest surprises for me have been Clemons and Polite. Neither guy looks even remotely like the player they were last year.
-Soliai, good to see the big man come on. -Chris Clemons, doesn't play like a rookie, does play like he is afraid of the ball, but not a rookie starter at FS DBess: looks to have gained some quickness, Black Welker looks like a different player so much so when Beast was brought down with a shoe string tackle, DBess asked him "did you do any squats this week"? And he was serious. Regressed: -Lou Polite, not the same devestating blocking FB -Vern Carey, he seems bored to me. -Brian Hartline, wildly inconsistent, he can disappear, or produce 100 total yds. -Ronnie Brown, this one hurts, but RB seems to hesitate more than he did in the past. -Randy Starks, I thought he was primed for a breakout, Richard Seymour type of season and it just has not been there. Not sure: Joe Berger Chad Henne Anthony Fasano, Paisan picked up a nasty case of the Dropits.
in order: Davis Soliai Clemons Henne Langford Misi Wake Smith (can make a move up over the rest of the season) i see Bess and Carey as a push .... but Devon is positive
I don't think Hartline has regressed. I see alot of people giving him **** but that hit was hard were he fumbled and I can't really blame him for the fumble although I wish he hadn't. He has good speed and can make big plays. Starks I think it's just his new role. Ricky Williams is just getting older but I think he's still got it. Ronnie might still be scared after that last injury. Chad Henne is definitely better then last year.
