Fasano will be the starter with likely Peele as his backup! Both good TE's! Fasano will CLEARLY be the starter though...

Vernon Davis still haven't done much in the NFL, IMO.

Fasano has good hands, he's not the fastest guy but he can pick up yards. He's also a good blocking TE. They drafted him in the 2nd round.

My thinking is the Cowboys didn't think he'd amount to much and gave him away in the deal to help us out.

He looked good for them though. Better than Martin, thats for sure.

It really comes down on who do you trust... Jerry Jones, or Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland?

Especially in consideration that most of our coaching staff not only scouted and drafted Fasano, but watched him practice, knew his flaws, and made the decisions that resulted in his play time, etc.

As per style, this team is probabaly not going to go for an oversized WR TE. They're going to want 260+ pound guys who can block.

You have to remember that Fasano was also playing behind Witten who is one of the top three TEs in the game right now. Hopefully he'll be able to show a little more with more time here.

I can agree with you on some points. Yea, I don't consider Fasano as a go-to every-down receiving TE along the lines of Witten, Gates, or Gonzalez but he's at least slightly above average. Just not a top 10 (or even 15) TE right now (mine would be in no particular order Gates, Crumpler, Witten, Shockey, Winslow, Clark, Heap, Cooley, Gonzalez, Miller). You can say Fasano was playing behind a good TE in Witten but the same argument also applies to AJ Feeley and Donovan McNabb. But it's Parcell and Co's. philosophy towards blocking TE's that can catch once in a while. Not that I agree with that philosophy, but Fasano fits well. Upside is limited compared to others but I'll take him over Martin any day.

This will be VERY vague but,
I heard on Sirius radio yesterday from a fan in Dallas that another TE had already passed Fasano on the depth chart last year. Dallas apparently was not impressed with his blocking. That was the reason given for letting him go. There was no argument from the guys on the show.
