Where does Anthony Fasano stand now? http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hins-where-does-anthony-fasano-stand-now.html
Anthony Fasano is a very good complimentary player. The guy is a fantastic #2 TE, or TE in a 3-WR base offense where those players are going to get greater emphasis. The guy is an elite blocker, is an excellent red zone target, and is punishing after the catch... it's just the catching, separation, route running, etc. is not up to par. If it was, he'd be dangerous. I'm kind of skeptical Fasano is gonna want the kind of money a complimentary player gets.
I had us taking gronkowski with our 2nd all during the offseason, that was if we went with brandon graham with our first....and before I knew we traded our 2nd for marshall which iam completely happy for..so, what we have is Odrick, Misi and Marshall, over Graham and Gronkowski, hypothetically... I like the way things worked out...
He's a young guy, though. Do you think he still has room to develop or do you see him as someone who's reached his potential?
You can bet this group wont stand pat on any position if the opportunity arises to get better, they wont hesitate to make the move as long as it is sensible. I am hoping one day we get a good TE who can both block and catch well.
Iam not sure if he struggled or just that he was'nt used in a fashion for his effectiveness to be visible on tv or in the stats... He seems like a guy who takes care of himself, and works hard, to me those are essetials in improvement from one year to the next. basically what I mean is, If you train your body to the optimum level during the offseason, make sure you study and know your position, and do everything you can do to improve physically and mentally, I believe you lower your chances of having a struggling season from the prior year tremendously..If you dont care to improve, or push your self to improve, chances are you will only get worse as a football player.
That Atlanta game really effed him up. I think he thinks he's Mark Bavaro after the catch. He just needs to know when to go down...
He really missed having Martin on the field with him. He drew more attention than he could handle by himself it seemed.
I'm not down on Fasano, I just think he had one bad game. Once Penne went down, Fasano was left in to block on alot of passing plays, and Henne almost always looked outside first in his progressions, where as Penne looked deep only to clear space for his eventual checkdown. So IMO his drop in production had more to do with circumstance and injury than poor play. He's an excellent run blocker, which is more important in our offense than a dominant pass catcher, especially with Marshall on board. He showed up more towards the end of the year (when healthy?) and looked like a beast on a couple plays in the Pats game. Sure you'd like to upgrade him if you get the chance, but I think Fasano is solid if not spectacular, I'd prefer him over one of those pass catching specialist TE's.
i think the field will open up for the slot and TEs this year with the addition of Marshall ... I just can't overstate the difference he is going to make. Fasano is going to get his chances this year ... i believe we will be ok at TE
