Balti has made it to the playoffs every year but they've only won once. Flacco was mudbutt last year if you recall. I'm not exactly sure Flacco is in some elevated league because of the one year he got hot, in his fifth try. Game QBRs of 59, 18, 10, 48, 61, don't necessarily instill confidence. Even playing out of his mind in 2012 he's at 88 through his playoff career.

And again, I'm talking regular season production. Flacco does not consistently make it to the playoffs without a good to great team around him. Did you see his 2013? 73 QBR? No run game and only Torrey Smith and he falls apart after they lose Boldin and Ray Rice only has a so so year.

Forsett and Smith were key pickups. He really depends on his teammates to be successful. I don't find him all that compelling of a player.

I'm not trying to cut short your post, I thought it was very insightful. However the last sentence is what I will quote because I disagree with it, and i'll explain as objectively as I can,

2013.....For us....8-6....Win one remaining game, and make the playoffs....Ryan Tannehill had one job and didn't get it done. Now I realize the offensive line was terrible for those last two games, but how does that make any sense considering the fact that we beat New England in a thriller prior to that meltdown? Ryan Tannehill did not perform well in those two games, and I think it's safe to say that those games were in a sense "playoff" games. They were just as important as a playoff game in my opinion, and we had two cracks at it and couldn't get it done.....At that point Ryan Tannehill was 0-2 in games where playoff implications were involved, and not only was he bad...he was awful....I know I know...The O-line.

    2014
7-5, with the biggest game of the season at home against the Baltimore Ravens. Everyone here knew without a doubt in their mind that we wouldn't beat New England in their stadium so the game at home (that week) against the Ravens was a must win in the majority of our minds. Obviously Dallas Thomas is largely to blame as is the tank job the defense did in the second half of that game, but when everything really started to fall apart around Tannehill during that game, he eventually caved in too (something I NEVER saw Marino do). Now he didn't have a bad game in my opinion, but he didn't elevate his game either, and that is why I think he is very similar to Andy Dalton....That now makes Tannehill 0-3 in games with playoff implications (which can be just as big as actual playoff games).

Now if you asked me who I thought was the more talented of the two my answer would clearly be Ryan Tannehill. I think he has a much higher ceiling than Dalton, but as of right now they are neck and neck in the same class and it is a class that super bowl Quarterbacks don't normally come from (minus Trent Dilfer or Jim McMahon).

Dalton.... The Bengals performance last Sunday..... very easily could have been us out there against Indy had we made the playoffs. In fact I think the only difference may in fact have been the uniforms and nothing more. Dalton could not elevate his level of play without his main guys to throw to, but I am willing to bet that in the same circumstance Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, or Drew Brees could have found a way to "get it done", or at the very least put up a hell of a fight.....Now what I am not willing to bet on at this very moment is Ryan Tannehill performing better than Dalton has so far in the playoffs. In fact...Had we made the playoffs last season or this season I think Tannehill would have struggled (subjective thinking at this point). I think missing the playoffs these last two years just may have been a blessing in disguise for Tannehill because had we made them and had he crapped the bed the way Dalton has (guess we'll never know), we would be 1,000 times more frustrated than we already are.....At least there is still some mystery to Tannehill and that black cloud isn't floating over his head the way it now floats over Daltons.
Hopefully when Tannehill and the Dolphins do make it back to the playoffs, he'll shine....After all we are Miami fans and that is what we ultimately want right?

And the Refs. Too bad he's playing that Patsies. Glad there's all this ref bad press going around, It's been another horrible year of calls and that Baltimore Miami game was the worst.

you make great points, I can't explain why his qbr is low in those games and in certain seasons yet I believe I see a very high level of individual play..

His movement within the pocket is very precise, he can escape and evade, he will run the football when he has to, his arm strength and touch is elite, and his game is even keel in the most pressure situations.
Offensively I don't believe they have had great skill players around him..

I've been a fan of his since he came out, and have continued to have to debate folks who underrate his skillset, I don't get why you don't see this level of play, I mean I thought he put on a nice display of qb'ing when he was down here for all to see..and against the steelers he was awesome, I don't know what else he has to do..he's an mvp Super Bowl QB..even when their team has transitioned and lost pivotal players he makes the plays that need to be made so that the team stayed competitive in transition and continues to make playoffs..

But I guess we all see things differently..

The right stat can tell you everything while the wrong stats can mislead you.

I don't want to speak for DJ, but we do agree on the issue of Flacco.

Flacco may not be what the QBR stats values but the few things he does well are the very things that are so highly in demand come January.

These things may not register as all that important in September and October but come play-off time, you need a QB that doesn't get rattled, a guy who is physically big so that he doesn't get taken down with just any amount of contact, a guy who can make all the throws outside and up the sidelines, a guy who can and is willing to test the secondary of any and all teams.

Stats are great for the regular season but you have to look past them in the Play-offs because it's the immeasurable things that have such an impact on the crucial situations in those tough games.

Between 2011 and 2012, Stafford passed for some 10,000 yards and during that time was 14-18. Big stats are not always the indicator in terms of who is going to step up and make a tough throw or who's got what it takes to win Super Bowls.

That's a great argument. I believe it's the same argument used to determine that Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Dan Marino.
