Kena Bridge of Spirits and Xuan Yuan were both very brief. Glad they were both inexpensive. Kena though, I view maybe as a big proof of concept for Ember Labs, that they can do something bigger given funding and time. The game is pretty well put together.

Now I'm playing The Witcher 3 after the PS5 update. Highly recommend giving it another go if you have the time. The graphics are upscaled, especially the lighting, and everything is very smooth and fast.

I decided to wait on buying Hogwarts. It feels like a game that will have a lot of bugs and get patched as it goes. I'll buy it eventually.

    Dear PS5 owners,

I'm looking to play Stranger of Paradise on my PS5. The digital, on-store version, is currently not on sale. However, there is a PS4 version w/free digital upgrade to PS5 available at Amazon. (
    )

I have a digital version of the PS5. I think I ran into this problem before, but I can't upgrade to the PS5 digital version unless I'm able to actually get the game license from the PS4 disc, right?

Thanks ahead of time. I'm just impatient.

Yes. You can't upgrade from the digital as far as I know.

With the disc, when you insert it into the ps5, you can click on the icon next to it, go to the ps store, and choose to download the ps5 version. I've done that with lots.

That's the thing. I don't have a disc-version PS5. Didn't know whether these free-upgrade PS4 copies have the code on an insert or if I would, hypothetically, have to put the disc in first (which I can't do).

Edit: I now see that's what you said.

Oh my bad, I'm sorry. Without the disc version, I'm not sure. Do you have the game loaded onto your PS4 already? If so, then you can try and go onto the PS5 and see if it'll let you download it, but I don't think that it'll work.

I don't. Just the demo. I think I ran into this problem with CP2077. My friend bought me a hard copy for Christmas and then I got the disc-less PS5, has gotten rid of my PS4, and couldn't play it without having to rebuy it.

    Oh well.

I finally scored a disc copy of Ratchet & Clank a Rift Apart on sale. Really enjoying it. Its everything that it should be in a next gen title from the series. Looks, feels, and plays like a R&C game should. Unfortunately, even though the series has a reputation for being fairly short games, this one looks like it might be extremely so. I've only played for about 6 hours and it says I'm 25% complete already.

FWIW, just today Sony put out a PS5 update that supposed to fix the issues people have had since launch with trying to get digital versions of disc based games that they already own. Likely won't help in this case, but for future knowledge. Its been a problem with PS+ extra titles. Actually basically punishing people for having the physical copy, which is so weird.

Really awesome game and I played right through it. I believe it has a type of New Game+ option but I usually only play those on RPGs.

We all have different standards certainly. I just usually play games where 50 hours would be an OK length, and 100 a good one. I'm a long time Ratchet player, and I understand and accept that their games are typically on the shorter side, but its still a bit of a bummer. That's one reason I made sure to find it half off.

I caved and got Wo Long. It's an OK action title- if I were more patient I would have waited for a sale. It's far more accessible than Nioh 2 which I'm not afraid to admit was way too challenging for me to enjoy. I've died plenty in Wo Long but no challenge feels insurmountable.

Looking forward to the next couple month's worth of releases: FF16, Dead Island 2, and the new Zelda. My wallet will be hurting.

I'm getting my wife the new Zelda for her birthday. I'll play when she's finished.

Wo Long looks too difficult, fast and button mashy for me. I'll check it out if it comes to PS+ though.

It is very fast. Whereas FromSoft makes enemies bigger and limits on-screen special effects so you can make sound decisions when you're in combat, Team Ninja piles the effects on and often times enemies are harder to read and generally faster. I prefer From's formula better.

I prefer neither, lol. Fewer and slower is my pace! I've noted that one of the main things developers seem to be doing with the more powerful consoles is cramming as many enemies and challenges onto the screen at one time as possible. This is not the direction that I want gaming to go.

I'm currently replaying Ghost of Tsushima, and have stepped up from the base PS4 to the PS5 this time. Its even more beautiful and responsive. And this is about my limit for how much I want a game to throw at me at one time. Horizon Forbidden West went a step to far with it.

I want really, really big, beautiful games, filled with exploration, discovery, puzzles, and a lot of easy to medium level enemies. Then gradually ramp up the difficulty as I go, and do not level up the enemies along with me.

That is phenomenal. Its truly jaw dropping to think what the studios might be able to put together in the near future. I saw a video where someone had recreated Riverwood Village from Skyrim in this engine, and it was astounding.

I've also read that its a "rising tide lifts all boats" situation, in that it should eventually allow even very small studios to make games that look as good or better than what the big ones are doing right now.

Yea, as long as they have the money to use Unreal Engine 5.2 and the marketplace. The animation demonstration in this video was outstanding. We might be close to random NPCs actually look like they are talking during live gameplay.

It is getting easier and cheaper to create amazing looking games.

Continually impressed by this region of the world's music, and it's shown through spectacular songs in their games. They do "folk" better than any country right now. And some of their bands (Dungen, ADHD) I'm really a big fan of, as well.:

I just reinstalled Horizon Forbidden West in preparation for the Burning Shores DLC that goes live on the 19th. Excited to see where it goes, as these games have one of my favorite protagonists and story worlds ever.

I’m only 10 hours in, but from what I have gathered through online vids and friends that are playing is that it has become what it promised to be when it came out. World is vibrant and full of things to do, with multiplayer able to be popped in-and-out of quite easily.

Waiting for the next sale to pick up H:ZD, but I imagine NMS will keep me busy until then.

Just FWiW, both horizon games are currently included if you're a PS+ member. The first one has the DLC included too. So you could get absolutely everything for the $20 the new DLC costs plus the price of admission for the program. I find it very much worth it as a Sony-primary gamer.

That’s a great deal! Too bad I’m a PC/XBox house. Been too hard to get a hold of a PS5 until recently and haven’t had a Sony product since the PS2.

Kind of going between MLB the Show 23 (free with Game Pass) and Monster Train (also free with Game Pass) this past weekend and this week. Occasional dabble in Warzone as well.

Still need to finish Elden Ring, Tiny Tina's Wonderland, and play more Destiny 2 (Lightfall) and Forza Horizon (Rally Adeventure).

I want more time in the day!

I'm playing The Show as well. After some experiments with sliders, I'm enjoying hitting more than in the last few versions. I'm actually able to take walks, which is awesome.

But pitching, as usual, just isn't the same. It goes from too easy to unplayable when I cross from All Star to HOF.

I was looking into this. The customization looks insane, but I am wondering if there's a meta build that makes replayability an issue. Also, can you do co-op campaign?

Also, I have a ten year old i7-3770K and a 2060 Super (6 or 8 Gb, I forgot now), and I heard the game is unoptimized and can choke even current day systems in combat with heavy CPU loading, which is my biggest bottleneck.
