I’m doing the same; upgraded my RAM in the meantime to get me through to sometime next year.

Been playing Stellaris as well lately, have a game going with two other guys that we pop into about once a month.
Also starting playing Thea 2, which is a bit of an indie game. Elements of Slay the Spire (card-based combat), Civ (resource management and settlement building), and roguelites (meant to be played through multiple times to unlock additional content). That’s been fun to drop an hour or so into at a time without necessarily having the ‘one more turn’ addiction level of Civ or Stellaris.

I'm so happy with how Civ plays on the ps5 that I'm not going back to the pc. It's so much faster in every respect!

One benefit I like on the PC, especially for Civ VI, are mods. I have a handful of UI mods that I couldn’t live without, including one that makes selling luxuries/strategic resources a breeze. Do they have those on PS5? Haven’t had a PS since PS2, so I’m a bit ignorant on their creation community.

No, the only games that have mods on Sony as far as I know are the ones from Bethesda. I never used many mods on Civ with the PC, because even just a few seemed to make the game crash, and those were simple ones like eliminating spys and preventing nuke power stations from exploding. Just things to make the experience smoother. I did enjoy the HUGE maps.

I played through Thea 1 a few times. It is a fun game. Sad my rat died. Still haven't picked up the second one.

Stellaris is a frustratingly fun game.

I love Stellaris; it's the most complex game I've ever played. So many different ways to play, and every game can be drastically unlike the previous. Paradox has done the persistent game right, something I wish EA would do with Madden.

Stellaris is so much better with mods. I just got into Total War Warhamme 2 and am enjoying it more than Stellaris as it has strategy elements in it with controllable battles, but nothing I've touched is as deep as Stellaris.

Nothing like loading a doomstack of Titans and Dreadnaughts and rolling over the Xenos. Yes, missile battleship fleets are probably the better and more efficient fleet composition, but I like my big time Star Destroyers roaming the galaxy.

On a whim I bought Victoria III.

I played the game for 3 hours. I have no idea what I am doing. I need to watch 3 hours of tutorials to understand the basics of this game.

Which is why I’m afraid to purchase it- I don’t need another of those kind of games in my life! Though I do enjoy them, and Vic 3 does look really good…

LOL. If you prefer to play as the WEF there’s a fun Econ sim on Steam titled “Evil Bank Manager”. It’s a lighter sim, but it’s only $12. And there’s absolutely wrecking state economies, proxy wars, and other shenanigans that would make it a fun multiplayer. Too bad it’s only single player.

My wife and I played the first ones together before we had kids, and then introduced the kids to them when they were old enough. My kids still play the PS3 versions all of the time, its a great series.

Started playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and I am finding it enjoyable. Seems a bit old school, but has some modern sensibilities too. I am liking how I can pick it up and put it down without issue.

Also bought CoD:MWII due to a friend's begging. It's CoD, whatever. If you like CoD, you'll like it. If not, I can't imagine why you would. There's at least some co-op modes which are a nice change of pace, since it's not as terrible as zombies.

I saw where the new CoD game is a remake. As someone who doesn't play shooters, how is that really a thing? I mean, couldn't they just call it the next game in the series?

I would guess I played the original, but I honestly have no clue if it is a remake. With that said, there is a campaign, so that could be remade the same way as FFVII got remade. Additionally, the multiplayer maps could be completely rebuilt.

My daughter and I watched a video this morning and agreed it looks terrible compared to sword and shield. How they go downhill that much with a following game is head scratching.

Their technical team is very bad. The fact that Breath of the Wild is a better looking game from 2017 speaks volumes. Maybe they're just doing the bare minimum, I don't know. Arceus' environmental design was also very bad and bland.

I'm truly surprised that Nintendo let it get out this way. Their standards for their internal and exclusive games are usually really high. This looks like its from a small developer who doesn't quite know what they're doing yet, not a major publisher who's been making these games for decades.

It could very possibly be that the hardware just sucks, and it isn't all the dev teams' fault. The tech is older than even the ps4 and xbox one despite debuting later.

I also think BotW is overrated visually.

That's fair. BoTW is certainly simplistic in its style, but they make it charming in part because of the limitations. Sword and Shield were both OK though, so that's why I'm so surprised that the new ones seem to be such a downgrade from that point.

I am playing Marvel: Midnight Suns and enjoying it a lot.

It is like a Marvel version of X-Com with a fun card-based system with a sprinkle of the Bethesta-style RPG elements.

The writing is a huge surprise to me because it is enjoyable. I am not saying it is Tolstoy however, the writing story is solid and some of the jokes have made me laugh. Also has a lot of fun Marvel Comic references.

Are the graphics as bad as they look? I saw one review that said it looked like a PS4 remaster of a PS3 game, and the ugliest native PS5 title that they've seen.

The graphics are fine. They are not next gen by any means.

The game looks like it is designed to play on PC. Even the PS5 version says, "PS5 enhanced".

Though, I do not play X-Com/Strategy games for sweet graphics. Gameplay is fun. Story is entertaining. Writing is surprisingly good.

I just started God of War from 2018. I've never played anything from the series despite being a Sony guy. The opening chapter is full of really challenging boss fights, which isn't usually my style, but I'm gonna dig into it and give it a go.

I was going to load AC Valhalla onto my PS5 now that all of the final content is out and finish the game's DLC, but because its leaving PS+ on the 20th, I'm going to wait to download the PS5 version until then. The only option right now is the free one even though I own the disc, and I don't want to have to download and install it again in two weeks.

I'm at the last boss in Elden Ring.

After that, I'm going back to CP2077 (about 70% complete), HZD:FW (about 50%), and the Ghost of Tsushima expansion which I have not played yet. I'm also playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands which I'm about 50% complete with.

They announced Armored Core 6 last night, which I'm very excited for. Fromsoft is doing a great job at listening to fans. I did not play 4 or 5 but I logged lots of hours into 2 and 3.

Took me around 50 tries to beat the last boss in ER. The last couple bosses were really tough, woof. The 2nd to last one was the best in the game, in my opinion.

I'm enjoying God of War more than I thought that I would. There's more of an RPG element to it with the skill tree than I expected, and aside from Kratos himself, a lot of the dialogue and voice acting is well done and enjoyable. The combat is really challenging, and continues what I personally think is a trend across the industry to make most difficulty levels harder than they used to be. What was hard is now normal, for instance. I've had to bump it down to "story" mode a few times to get through sections, which makes it so easy that a small child could do it.

Completed the story of God of War, and did all of the optional activities that I think I'm capable of without dumbing down the difficulty setting to "story", which in this case makes it so easy a kid could do it without much trouble.

I bought Kena: Bridge of Spirts, when it went on sale via the PSN at $17. I've had my eye on it for a while. A small studio production heavily inspired by Breath of the Wild, and looks and plays like it in a lot of ways. Its quite challenging, very much like Zelda is.

I also received a Chinese RPG called Xuan Yuan 7 for the holidays, but I haven't started it yet. I looks like its pretty deep and the graphics are solid, but I'll have to play entirely by subtitles, like the old days, given that I don't speak Mandarin.

Picked up Dead Cells during steam winter sale and it brings back so many NES and SNES memories for me. Little bit of Casetlevania, Mega Man, Mario, and others all rolled into one solid and enjoyable game.

Also, helps me on controller sticks again, so when I try to convert to controller for COD, it may not be so bad(who am I kidding, I've been mouse and key since Doom on DOS). Controller AA on COD is out of hand right now. Hard to win CQB fights on mouse and key.

My six year old laptop announced that I had a hard drive problem and needed to immediately restart....and then never came back to Windows. I got a good run out of it. Thankfully, prices have gotten a lot better of late and after some research I bought a HP Omen gaming laptop. It has the same 16 GB of RAM that the old one did, but its upgradeable to 64, so I might eventually go that way. It also has a much higher graphics card and absolutely flies for just about anything.

So, I might try Starfield on PC given that its never coming to PS5. And then eventually, perhaps ES6 as well.

    Also playing Warzone 2 still.
