5. Zach Boren, Ohio State, FB: Techincally, it's hard to categorize the 246-pound senior, a starter since his freshman year, as too much of a surprise but the guy proved to be a revelation of sorts to the new Buckeye offensive staff. "We honestly didn't know what kind of role he would have in our system," OSU offensive coordinator Tom Herman said. "But once we put the pads on, it was very clear that: 'We gotta find a place for this guy.' " Herman described Boren as a "slithery" inside-the-tackles guy who can be a one-cut runner and will fit well for a team that wants to run the Inside Zone over and over and over. Boren also has good hands and can be one of those move-around guys that becomes a headache for rival defensive coordinators. Herman also was very high on the emergence of versatile Jordan Hall with the way he grew up on and off the field this off-season, but keep an eye on Boren in 2012, who should prove to be much more than just a blocking back. this was on a top 10 list i saw somewhere else. but we can always use a fullback this guy seems likea TONY PAIGE caliber player even though he isnt quite ready for the nfl just yet I will be watching this cat.
Al Golden thinks we drafted a first round pick in Vernon..Let's hope he's right.?the kid is talented.
oh I forgot about him but we havent been keeping our fullbacks - running backs for very long by the time he is in the draft our needs will probally shift but still I like this kid. hey djphinfan tell me more about this guy Vernon , how big is he and how are they going to use him ? thanks.
Well first, my post wasn't meant for this thread, somehow I posted that in the wrong thread, obviously, unless Vern is making the switch to fullback, lol.. Anyways I'm ******ed...you asked me a question about our rookie hybrid linebacker/pass rusher? Olivier Vernon is an outstanding project player acquisition because your starting with a foundation of very serious strength, ( i mean no joke strength)athleticism, and motor..As a nineteen year old, he flashed hard and often to many cane viewers, and those flashes were filled with his raw talent, he was playing with his hand in the dirt a lot and he wasn't giving any ground to the opponent, he's very good on the edge, inordinately strong, can stand up most tackles with power leverage and hand use, so against the run, I think the player is sound and can only go up, as far as rushing the passer, he can get off, he can chase, he needs a few more moves from a technical aspect but when you have the kind of athleticism he has, it's like a great offensive basketball player learning to play defense, they can do it because that have the physical talent to move their bodies into learning new principles to their positions responsibilities, and I'm hoping some inside intel with our new hometown source Al golden, who thinks Vern would of been a first round pick next year, I'm hoping his future will reflect what his college coach thinks.
You don't know how big Vernon is??? Hells fire, it is only posted in over 10,000 places on the net. Google his name, Olivier Vernon, and you can know in less than 15 seconds how tall he is and how much he weighs.
