How sad is it that this team and the coaching is so bereft that when our Qb plays a mistake free game where he has a Qb rating of 124... we still cannot beat a team with a record above .500???

Didn‘t really like the draft back then besides the Holland pick to bad he has to deal with injuries most of the time but when you look at it now it’s even worse…

Article is spot on, and that is not even the worst Grier draft, you go back and look at the 2020 or 2017 draft and it just makes you cry.
Grier's bad drafting set this franchise back for years and condemed us to more endless suffering as fans.
Grier has been a major part of our bad drafting for over 20 years now. Enough already.

I don’t think you know what the modern day definition of a game manager means.
this is the part of the game that Tua has been missing since leading the league in passing the past two years.
if you really want to dive into the numbers regarding his play from a historical perspective you wouldn’t be saying what your saying because what your saying would be highly in-accurate from a football evaluation standpoint.

As I pointed out in another thread (because this topic seems to be the only thing a handful of people want to talk about.) Last week Mahomes hopping around on one foot in the pouring rain... improvised and made a play up all by himself out of thin air to win the game... When he faked like he was going to run... drew the defenders up and then made a underhand throw to the wide open receiver in the end zone...
I talked about Burrow taking multiple hits because he stood tall in the pocket giving his receivers more time to throw...
Tua cannot and does not do either of these things... And it is a huge reason he needs to be called a game manager.... When defences take Hill away from him... Like the Bills did... He throws almost half of his passes to the running backs... He cannot extend plays.. He is not giving his receivers more time to get open...He cannot take hits (Or he will get concussed.)
He deserves to be praised for not turning the ball over and not making mistakes. Tua is not going to complete 90% of his passes very often... But if the opposition can take Hill away and force Tua to dump off half his passes to the running backs it is going to be difficult for the Dolphins to win.
And letting the running backs do almost all of the work with the running game and the short passes.... That is Tua being a game manager... Tua is not out there making big plays... He is just merely giving what the defence gives him. You can say he is playing smart, you can say he is playing mistake free... But he is still a game manager.

Yes BB did that... Plus he outcoacheed his opponents.... Bellicheat was always a step ahead of the curve on when to accept the kick in the endzone... when to run it out... BB teams won the field position battle... They managed the crap out of the clock... They salted the game away the instant they had a lead with clock killing runs.
And BB teams for the most part were good to great defencively. If it was not for the Superbowl Rings... I would not say Brady was really that special... When you have that many rings it counts for something.
But yes... aside from the years where brady had the best supporting case around him... He was very much a game manager... When he had welker and moss in their primes all of a sudden he was airing it out and dealing. when he had Gronk and Gonzales in their prime with Edelmann that offence was pretty good also.
But before Moss and Welker... first like 8 years of Brady.... QB rating of what 88 or 89? And he won three rings...Before Welker and Moss came to New England. But the numbers were NOT elite... He was a game manager. Elite coaching... very good defence... And it was enough to win rings.

Kyler murray made a couple of great runs for touchdowns... Making explosive plays with his legs...
So even if you took his receivers away and he had to dink and dunk to running backs... Murray has wheels and he can make a defender look silly and use his legs to make big plays.
So in the game you said Murray is a game manager...
He was 22/24.... (A lot like Tua) 266 But the ability to use his legs and score touchdowns makes him a QB that can take over the game wheen his top receiver is covered. Tua is not a guy that compares athletically with Murray... Tua is not going to break anyone's ankles out there on the field. (Murray is.)
Now Murray only ran a few times... but when he needs to he has the ability to put the ball in the endzone all by himself. As for the Scrambling... He did scramble some... He bought time.... Did you see the play where it was an all out blitz and he backpeddled and threw the ball up the hail mary to the wide open player down the field... that was all Murray being elusive... and making the miracle play.
I wish Tua had that extra special escapability and running ability that Murray has....

I’m not trying to compare the qbs, I was a big fan of Murray coming out, and Tua, they’re different of course, I’m just telling you you don’t know the importance of being a game manager at this point in the games evolution. You still have a perception of what it is, need to update your software.
Tua used his legs twice, once to convert a key first down and the other to scramble and throw a td outside the pocket side arm.
the rest of his game was exceptional any way you slice it.
Little tip for you when it comes to you lessening the achievements of Tom Brady, don’t, it makes you look stupid.

I think some of our draft woes are a little overstated, but it hasn't been great. The Lions are a team that has maximized the draft and the extra assets they got. They have drafted legit stars, tone setters and playmakers on both sides of the ball at all positions. We mostly just draft guys.
I don't care how the rest of the season goes, but Grier is not him.
