Eh, Allen is still a good player, but isn't the same disruptive force that he was 2 or 3 years ago, especially when you factor in his age and salary.

I was hoping to save a little money on him, to be sure, but it was a calculated risk as well - I've got two very good defensive ends on my roster and the best DT in football - I can afford to gamble a little bit.

Best case scenario, I got him back a little cheaper than his original salary. Worst case scenario he goes to a team and puts a damper in their FA spending ability. Either one of these is a win for me through the rest of FA and the draft.

always a calculated risk. I learned my lesson last week  I really wanted to wait until say a week into free agency, but by then, why are you cutting salary?

Would this be when McCoy was ripping both biceps or when Ngata was the most dominant interior defensive linemen and anchoring a championship defense?

This would be when it's been widely acknowledged that Ngata's become a bit lazy and not nearly as dominant as he had been since he's been paid.

Anchoring a championship D? I didn't realize he became a svelte black pass rushing OLB?

Actually I see 2 prime candidates. Sam Shields and the Saints C Brian De La Puenta also tagged at the 2nd round level. With the lack of depth in FA and draft for centers....Brian is a target. PFF's #2 Center. 2 sacks/4 hits/10 hurries. Strong run blocker. Decent screen guy.

PFF would agree. Their top 3 DT's are Atkins/McCoy and Kyle Williams with the Detroit pair just behind.

You guys do have a good point. It would only cost me an extra 800k to put the 1st round tender on Shields.....hmmmmm...

If I had a 2nd and I was CB needy...I'd be all over it. Hell I'd still consider it with a first round tender..........I'd just trade down to the backend of the first, tender and go for it.

A 2nd is just asking to be Wes Welkered.

PSG 2nd round aint nothin to get a guy like Shields who played PHENOMENAL last season.

Any team that needs a CB will jump at that price.

Like I said...if I was CB needy and had the cap room/late first. Hell yah I'd do it. He needs to figure out whether he wants to get something for Jennings at the risk of losing Shields...or to keep Shields outright.

I'd watch out for Paul. Flush with picks and loves CBs. I could see him use a first.

And this is why you dont call out players being undervalued. You use the same courtesy you would use in a fantasy draft.

please, that 20 million is only 16.7% of the cap. Both Calais Campbell and Marques Colston got 20% of the cap last season.

Not to mention Campbell went to Buffalo in the GML, so Van has a ways to go to match.

And I don't need starting CBs. So if anything I jacked the price on a rival team and scored good will with a good trading partner.

Good when it gets done to you dont complain. Its rude. PM him or something if youre going to be something that silly. Still doesnt make it right but at least its not public. And FWIW I didnt necessarily want him either since I have Sherman-Bailey-Boykin.

I wouldn't. You should know by now we operate differently Yoda. Lol. This season is just laughs for me. Pick up a few lessons, make some good partnerships for next year and have some laughs.
