http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2009/09/26/a1c_dolphins_0927.html Speilman is right, this game matters more than anyone is letting on, for all the talk of Gates and Sproles, the real story should be how the SparanoPhins respond to the fact it is pretty much a win or else situation.
That's what I've been saying since we went 0-2. If we lose here it's time to really start thinking about Chad Henne.
Why? If we are 0-3 or 0-4 why not start him? Every game is going to be a tough one. He's been here long enough that it should not matter what defense he faces in his 1st start. Welcome to the NFL kid, and every game is a hard game on our schedule this season. If we are 0-3 or 0-4 we need to start Henne to see what he needs to work on during the bye week.
Because I still think If we are 0-3, we still have a chance. But if the bye weekend comes, and we are 0-5, then we don't have a chance and should just give Henne two weeks to prepare before his first NFL start.
If we are 0-3 or 0-4 Pennington ain't gonna get us to the playoffs, not with our schedule. Only 3 teams have ever made the playoffs after an 0-3 start, and I'd be willing to bet that none of them had the toughest schedule in the NFL when they did it. We need to start Henne ASAP if we go 0-4.
This is a must win. There's no question about it. Not only because of the difficulty of overcoming 0-3 but because this is another AFC opponent so this and last week's loss would factor into tiebreakers if there was a big turnaround. I was thinking about what has went wrong and it occured to me that the Dolphins defense has yet to create a turnover this season. [Unless I'm missing something] That has to change today. They need to run Ronnie and Ricky at the Chargers until they can't stand it anymore. If they dominate the clock again there's no way they lose this time.
no way......force a young kid in his first start to get into a shootout with drew brees?! i dont think so.....he'll try to do too much.
Probably like a lot of people I had this penciled in as a probable loss as soon as I saw the schedule -- west coast road game against a good team after a Monday night game. We really needed to win that game against the Colts.
Definitely a must win today. If we lose, and go to 0-3, not only have we put ourselves at a huge disadvantage in terms of getting to the post season, but thoughts of 2007 start to grow in the minds of the players that were here then. That could be bad...real bad. JMHO...
I think the trip out west might be a little overblown. It isn't nearly as bad as a west coast team coming east because you gain time traveling west. This will just feel like a 1PM east coast game to them vs. a game at 10AM for a west coast team that comes out here and plays the early game.
You have a point. Also, there was no game that looked like a surer loss than on the road in NE in week three last year, and we all know how that turned out.
If we go 0-3 or 0-4 we need to get Henne a shot to see if he is indeed the future of the Dolphins. We need to evaluate the QB position to see if it needs to be addressed again in next years draft. I really don't think we can answer anything about the QB position in free agency as we all know how big of a headache free agent QBs have been in the past. Henne could be the future and might or might not be a good quarterback, but we will never know until he gets a chance in live action.
I think if we lose this game, we can pretty much forget about making the playoffs. Hell, we can forget about breaking 500 I think.
We would have to go what..9-4 the rest of the season, which is not impossible but it is one tall order...
need to win one out of the first four two would be a good start all is within the realm of possibility last week was a weird, unusual game that we should have won got an excellent chance of winning against the Chargers we shall see in about an hour & a half
