Not to mention the non called delay of game just a couple of plays before Jones' TD.

He blew by the Jets D on that designated flea flicker. If Ricky Williams could have tossed that ball back to Penny, it would have been a TD.

It looked to me like he was going after another Jets receiver who was right on the first down marker, he probably assumed that's where it would go and obviously it didn't. I don't place the blame on Hill at all on that one.

Are you kidding me? The OL looked good to you? They gave up 4 sacks, and I think it said 6 hurries and 5 knockdowns...that is close to abysmal. Considering they never allowed us to open up any rushing lanes and there were some stupid penalties I think they were the downfall of the team and the biggest cause for the loss.

Well, a couple things stood out to me watching this game...
First, our WRs suck on ice. Seriously, not a single one of them can get open on a regular basis, including Ginn. They're horrible and they're going to cost us more than this game in the season. At least one of our first three picks in next year's draft had better be a stud WR.

Second, our DBs aren't very good either. Not as bad as our WRs, but close. At least we have Allen in the DBs, which is one more good player than we have on our WR corps.

Third, our offensive play calling up until the fourth quarter was horrible. Why wasn't Pennington rolled out when it became obvious that our O line couldn't stop the pass rush? Why didn't we throw more to the RBs in the first three quarters of the game? Why the HELL did we EVER have an empty backfield when it was obvious that we had to max-protect if we wanted to keep Penny from getting sacked?

Fourth, Penny does not look comfortable back there. Maybe it was the constant pressure, or getting hit every play, or the fact his WRs couldn't get open to save their lives, but there were a lot of plays where he looked lost in the pocket, holding onto the ball waaaay too long. There were several plays where I was screaming at him to MOVE AROUND when the pressure was coming, but he just stood there and took a sack or threw an incompletion. In the preseason, he was moving around in the pocket a lot, and it was working. He needs to move around and buy himself some time, because our O line sure isn't going to give it to him.

Anyway...this game was about what I expected. I thought the Jets would have some teething pains at first before Favre got really comfortable with their offense, and they did. But we are not good enough to take advantage of that opportunity.

Chad had plenty of time most of the game. How much time should a QB get? The Jets secondary was on it today. That was the mismatch that decided the game IMO. With no passing game it's kind of tough to run. Favre was pressured plenty himself behind that even that 50 million dollar line.

at least one, maybe two of them can be put on pennington for simply standing in the pocket too long. he had plenty of time to throw all day. when the Jets brought the house on blitzes... yeah, our youth and inexperience showed and blitz pickups weren't made. That is to be expected. Its going to get corrected. The OL as a unit was pretty damn impressive today for being entirely all new, with the exception of Satele, and Carey. Are you forgetting were starting a 2nd year center, along with a new addition at LG, oh... and yeah... in case anyone for got... two rookies, one at LT?? As a unit they played well. Pennington had time to throw. Run blocking could have been a bit better, but the Jets have a pretty damn good DL and LB's as well.

We must have watched different games. From what I saw he didn't have any time to throw until the end of the game.

The stats say a lot as well, the OL did not do their job. I fail to see how you can put the fault of our terrible day running the ball on the passing game. Considering the fact our passing game has sucked since Marino, yet we had a great running game in between those years.

But yeah, if you want to blame the terrible OL work on our WR, you can always ignore the sacks, hurries, and knockdowns.

Pennington had all the time in the world to throw at the start of the game, it wasnt really until the third, early fourth quarter that the OL let up, partially because the jets were pressuring and blitzing more. Then again at the end of the game, plenty of time to throw. He had a strong pocket on about 90% of the plays I'd say. Pass blocking was fine. Chad needs to throw the ball, or more around to make something happen. I agree with you on our run blocking though. It just wasnt there as well as it should have been, but the Jets to have a strong defensive front...

The receivers were not getting open. It's obvious some of you think a QB should have 10 seconds to check things out. As I said, he felt pressure but not any more than Favre felt behind that 50M dollar oline they have. We did watch different games because a lot of you were obviously expecting to see a probowl offensive line. And if the offensive coaching staff did not see this pressure coming with that young oline, maybe they should look for new jobs. I don't know anything about a terrible running game, did they even hand the ball off in the second half? 3rd and goal at the 3 in 4 down territory with Ronnie Brown in the huddle and not even one run.

Jets are overrated. After watching them today I wouldn't have much faith in them. Unless Miami will be much better then what everyone expects

Buffalo on the other hand looked like a legit playoff team.

I have more faith in a Favre-led team than the Bills. Jets will win nine or ten games. Bills will win seven imo. Today's game against Seattle wasn't all that impressive. 3.7 ypc against Seattle. Seattle had no receivers, a lack of running game and Matt Hasselbeck is playing with a bulging disk.

And... if you want to talk stats... and sacks, hurries and knockdowns... lets look at our WR's shall we... out of 26 completed passes by Pennington... only 6... yes... SIX were caught by our WR's. The guys who are supposed to make plays in the passing game... oh... and those SIX completions to WR's only led to 62 of our 251 passing yards... so yeah... our WR's are definatley not doing their jobs as effectively as they should be..

The OL did its job in pass protection for the most part. The wide receivers suck balls immensely. We should never EVER EVER go with a three WR formation unless we are desperate to do so.

I would even consider using Ronnie as our slot receiver just to get away from our terrible WR corp. It looks horrid.

There were so many chances to win this game it's ridiculous. Against the Jets athletic secondary how in the world is Ted I'm fast but I can't really jump too too high Ginn going to out jump Revis? Why not use the tall Ernest Wilford and Derek Hagan there?

Why did we completely abandon the run when we had time in the third quarter. That's when the Jets' defense was probably most tired and had no adrenaline yet to end the game.

I must say the close score does not indicate the fact that the Jets had plenty of chances to make it much worse. R

Ricky was clueless until the end of the game especially on that flea flicker, what was he thinking?

    What did you honestly expect?

We had Greg Camarillo starting today...

You guys have unbelievably high expectations for our wide receivers...

Ted Ginn Jr. is in the start of his SECOND season... I never said that the o-line was horrible, I said they needed to calm down. They were getting rattled in the middle of the game and you cannot deny that.

    Then why start Camarillo?

The pass rush was alright for the majority of the game although we were completely ripped off on that lack of a holding call on the Jets on the fluke TD. That would have made a major difference.

We could'nt pass when they KNEW we would. I enjoyed that we were in the game at the end. This is a very good lesson we learned.I did'nt feel we were out of it at all and we can learn from it.They were the better team(this week). I expect greater things in the future.

All in all, not a horrid game, but not great either. To many mistakes, but those should get ironed out with time.

Ricky was a dissapointment and either needs to turn it back up or hit the bench for Ronnie. Fasano was great, nice to have a TE who can catch it. And maybe, MAYBE, Martin will be OK as well.

I think the Jets investments look pretty solid so far. They have a legit shot at taking the division if Brady is hurt bad. THe Bills looked good, but the Seahawks are a joke of a team-no running game to speak of, down to using their 3-4 recievers as starters, Hasselbeck has a gimpy back.
IMO it will be a battle between the Jets/Pats for tops, and likely the Bills in 3 and us in 4.
We should definately be better than last year though. Just need to eliminate some of the mistakes, get the run game going and find a way to pass the ball.

Just got back from watching the game, so prob. this has all been said, but...Chad looked horrible early, then got it together. Our offensive line was dominated until the 4th quarter, when I think the Jets wore out. Our defense was pretty good, not great.

Re our wideouts looking so bad, I couldn't decide if it was Chad, the OL, the wideouts, or all three. Probably all three.

It's going to be a pretty rough year.

Favre's second TD pass on 4th and 13 is going to give me nightmares tonight.

I don't think anyone who has a shred of practical realism in their body believed we were going anywhere near the playoffs this season. Still, it's disappointing because it's a game where we could have pulled an upset over a favored opponent and we didn't.
