Alot of the media ripped Riley a new one for taking over when "apparently" Gundy was doing so well in Miami. But the players, almost none of them said anything about it, now you know why.
I love how Dwight Howard rolls his eyes and makes "whatever" type gestures whenever ESPN / TNT / ABC has Fat Stan mic'ed up and shows him during a timeout. If your superstar doesn't approve of the coach... how the hell does he still have a job?
simply not true. demonstrably so as well. check the FT stats. Riley was hated by many refs and one ref in particular had a vendetta against him.....Steve Javi.
Fail. We have one less Championship because Dwade picked a heck of time to go down with sore ribs. Stan was a good coach here in Miami and his first full season was some of the funnest Bball I've ever seen Miami play with Caron, Odom and Wade.
Sorry man I like the Heat and Wade, Zo, Shaq but that Mavs series was embarrassing to watch as a fan, I lost a lot of interest in the NBA after that and watching the LeBron treatment against my Wizards, the NBA refs are the worst in professional sports.
Bulll****. when you attack the basket...they either foul or they get dunked on. go back and look at those games. this is a case of buying into the bull**** from whiney Mavs fans.
LOL!!!!!!! talk about fail..... that season you loved so much from the "GREAT" Stan Van Gundy...ended on our home floor in a game 6 with Dwyane Wade on the bench down the stretch. it wasn;t just game 7 of the ECF's.... Stan Van Gundy was ALWAYS a total disaster. Incompetent to no end. Wannstadian.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing that ****... don't belittle our title because Wade got superstar calls, I mean, WTF. Let's take away ALL six of Jordan's rings then. Wade attacked the basket and got knocked around more than any player in the history of the league during that six game span. THE GREATEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE IN NBA FINALS HISTORY. And the ONLY credible basketball mind on ESPN will co-sign: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playo...nist=hollinger_john&page=FinalsPerformances-1
And I liked the DWade/Shaq Heat, but still, I barely can watch the NBA anymore...to me they ruined it by taking the physical play out of the game in favor of "Movement and Beauty"... Put it this way, the NBA had a crooked Ref, and no one noticed all the calls he intentionally blew, bad reffing is sort of expected, he flew under the radar for years.. 'nuff said.
did you not see last night's game? He did just that. Now if he could only shoot 80% from the line......
Sorry but as a fan of neither team I thought that was the worst officiating I've seen in the NBA and thats saying something. Like I said I basically lost interest in the entire league after that.
LOL you can tell by how mad Heat fans get that this stuff still gets to them. This Wade attacked the basket so he got the calls stuff is laughable. Like he invented going to the basket? There would be a ton of guards going to the line 25 times a night if they knew they could just duck their head and run at the post players to get a call.
If Van Gundy were a better coach...even a league-average coach, the Magic would have eliminated the Celtics right now. If Michael Rappaport, er Brian Scalabrine, is covering Rashard Lewis, you give Lewis the ball until the Celtics figure out a way to stop it.
yeah because wade just ducked his head and ran to the basket i've never seen a basketball player take over a series like that. not just a game, a whole series. the fact that people want to hate on his performance really boggles my mind. it was gorgeous to watch. you must hate basketball.
Love basketball, hated the refs in that series. I like Wade a lot as well but that series was garbage.
to answer the thread title......Shaq can suck it. Who's still playing? Orlando. Buckle under pressure? Ha, they just came from down 3-2 and won on the road IN BOSTON!!!!!
wow...neg rep and a half on the homerrific post Gish. Way to beat up on a team that was struggling just to stay alive without KG, who by the way still took you 7 games to beat. I'm calling it right now and am willing to take ANY bet that the Magic do not beat the Cavs.
You need to take off the bitter glasses and leave the ref excuses alone. They are old and tiring and have you have nothing to back your claims. History will show you the superstars get calls, NOT just Wade. Fans of teams that try to do the "Blame the ref" thing when there teams dont win or the teams that they dont like win are amusing for awhile. But it loses its amusement after, oh I dont know, four years or so. The better.team.won.period. The better team has won every series this year as well. The Magic were the better team this Series by talent only. This is getting way OT though. You take away Howard and Lewis and sold role play and Gundy is another run of the mill coach who cant get over the hump. But I will say this he is maybe a better coach than Mike Brown. But Brown has Lebron.
Wannstadian...WOW...now that is bad! True. And to think Stern wants everyone to believe it was just one guy. Stern wants every playoff to go 7 games because of the money. And he wants to see Lebron and Kobe this year because it would generate more viewers and $$$$$. Believe me when I say David Stern will one day be found out to be controlling ALL the games. It wasn't just one bad ref. IMHO, This ref could go down in the books like Canseco in baseball. He tells more truths then anyone wants to believe. Stern has the biggest media people in his pocket. (ESPN, TNT...). He makes them $$$. Even if they had facts that he manipulated games, I doubt they blow the whistle.
We don't accept this because it is not true. We are traditionally screwed by the refs. In our championship year we were victims of a rigged game in the Bulls series.....we then smashed the Nets, Pistons and Mavs. We were the clear cut better team in each series. The infamous Donaghey gave us a paltry 1-7 record in games he reffed all the while we were 59-23 and 52-30 during those years he gave us a 1-7 record. DO THE MATH.
Quit making excuses. We just beat the defending NBA Champions after being down 3-2. And don't give us that garbage about beating them without Garnett. It's a team sport and they couldn't pick up his slack enuff to get the job done. We are the better team end of story.
no bitter glasses here. Yes superstar do get the call but that series was overblown. Everyone knows that series had too many whistle in the heat favor. But they still had to make the shots and Dwade did 20+ times he was on the line which should of been cut in half. Yuck.
wow dude. The Magic have been minus All-Star PG Jameer Nelson for longer than the Celtics have been without KG. I'm so tired of hearing the KG excuse. You play with who is healthy, the Magic won, and should have won in 5 games if not for a ridiculous buzzer beater by Davis in game 4. No disrespect E, but I think you're very misinformed in your opinions of Orlando. not to mention the fact that you took this thread off topic and got personal.
In the last 22 regular season games played without Garnett, the Celtics were 15-7. That is the team that finished strong to secure the #2 seed. That is the team that beat a damn good Chicago squad in round one. I didn't hear any of you making excuses for the Patriots when Miami stomped them in week 3 WITHOUT BRADY. So stop trying to belittle the Magic's victory over a tough as nails Celtic team.
