The Wanny over-ruling everybody to pass on Brees story is well known. The maddening part about the story is how obvious the pick was. It was the "best player available" and the biggest need. Brady was a surprise, lucky pick. Nobody is upset about that. The Brees pick was a no-brainer. We needed a franchise QB and there was a young QB available with franchise QB potential. But instead Wanny went the "let's improve the rest of the team" route. What makes it even more maddening is that there are people here still espousing the same strategy. That helps keep it fresh. Some people have never learned that without the franchise QB, the most you can generally hope for from improving the roster is a bunch of regular season wins and playoff ousters, if you're lucky.
Totally disagree. I have seen very few people who think Miami should pick a back up or substitution guy in the first round. Miami already had one of the top 5 top two cornerbacks in the game when they drafted Jamar Fletcher. That pick was wrong for many reasons other than, "It wasn't a quarterback."
Padre espoused that very theory to me yesterday or the day before, so me saying, that some here are espousing "let's improve the rest of the team" rather than making getting a franchise QB the top priority is completely accurate.
Also, this topic will never die because our own posters (cough *OP* cough) do a good job of bringing it up in a discussion (or its own thread) frequently.
Stictches of course this topic will never die buddy this is a message boad what did you expect ? you didnt expect the topic of Cam Cameron and Ted Ginn jr to be the main focus did ? I really beleive that these other qbs could have carried us to the 2nd or 3 rd rd of the playoffs if we had better coaching . Sage Rosinfels. say what ? yes because if you used Ronnie and Ricky in the backfield and used Donald Lee and R Mc at te end and had Chambers then we could win with those guys . Guss Ferrotte we never gave him a chance and he played well . Brian Griese I would take him over all the other qb s since Marino . Daunte Culpepper you guys know that taking Daunte over Brees was a bad choice but I say it was a good choice that was totally screwed up because Nick wasnt patient and he forced Culpepper out on the field way too early coming off a injury. Plus if we had taken Brees and his shoulder was messed up we would all be here saying we wanted Culpepper instead. Chad Henne man he got shafted because of our dumb *** head coach and his puppet Dan Henning.so this issue is never going to fade until this ball club makes a big move to get a real qb .i brought up these qb 's because even I can win a playoff game or two with these guys.this franchize is the worst in trading and we usually get the shaft .
