Just me I guess. But shouldn't we run the ball more ?

Control the ball, and good aggresive defense. Basics

You guys obviously know more than me, but without a running game we wont win diddly squat, trust me.

You cant run on first down and get no yardage and then abandon it on second down like they did last game. I understand you do what works, but with no running game nothing works.

    No Offense, no Defense.

I understand what you're saying and agree with you but its all about situational football IMO. Underrated aspect of games. There are times where you attack with an aerial game or you attack with the run. Dan Henning is a 60/40 guy (and a Air Coryell guy, which some wouldn't think) with a favor toward running the ball. However, there are certain downs and distances that control that, as you know, and plus there are times where you'll have a down in which you should run the ball but if you see a possible way to exploit a weakness in the passing game - see Marshall's deep against Husain Abdullah as the single high safety of the Vikings - then you need to take advantage of that. Overall, I think the biggest issue that the Dolphins with running the ball is that they are not blocking well enough. However, I also think that the defenses they face have been pretty stout. Sione Pouha, the replacement NT of the Jets, is very good against the run and then you go back to the Minnesota game, and they are stout inside against the run. There are several factors IMO but in the end, continue to emphasize playing with leverage and winning at the POA in practice and I think the run game will start to shape up as the season goes.

Yeah defense's have been good for sure, and I agree you take advantage of what you have, but the other teams know that too. Dont get into the position where you are doing exactly what they expect, cuz that is what I see so far. The other team will always expect you to exploit their weaknesses so they will be ready.

I called plays in the last game and the Fins duly done what the Jets wanted.

I want a Fins Offense to do what they want and the opposing D unable to stop them. Thats when I know we can win the big one

I don't see that. If you're referring to Dan Henning, I think he's called three games very well.

That'll take some time, mate, but hopefully some day.

Henning is taking way too much abuse from the fan base. The offense isn't why they lost to the Jets.

Perhaps i have been spoilt by the Marino era

By no means have i been getting at Henning, but in all teams that get the big one, eventually, its based on a great Defense and a good running game. I know recently drew brees has been an exception, but expect it to go back to the good old days sometime soon

You are right, and that wasn't what I posted either. My point was that we got back to basics and run more and had a solid Defense

More and more threads about the Offense or the run game.
Defense is the problem right now.

Kind of hard to argue with the offensive output versus the Jest not too many teams have put up the kind of yardage and points we did against a Ryan defense. Sure we left some plays on the field and I'm sure we would have loved to run better but we did enough on offense to win that game. The defense made Sanchez look like Johnny Unitas out there, no excuse for that.

Apples and oranges, Wanny was a unimaginative block head, we did win games, the lack of a Qb and poor drafts sank the whole deal.

I forgot you are all American, and the way we and you perceive things.

I have no problem with Henne passing or the for the most part, the way Henning play calls, i just think we should run he ball more. What is the point in having Williams and Brown if you are not going to run it more. You might as well trade one of them the way we have played strategically. Perhaps Williams or the O line are'nt up to it whem it comes to rushing. This isn't meant to be a knock on the team, just a question, thats all.

Why do you think we should have run more against the Vikings and Jets defenses, which are some of the best in the league against the run?

Do you think we'll be running the ball more against the Steelers and Ravens?

You have to use your best players, and in Ronnie and Ricky they are a couple of our best guys. We were lucky against the vikings and our D saved us. It was nothing that are O done for sure. My doubt is that the O line is not good enough against run defenses.

Actually, yes, the offense’s lack of red zone efficiency is the reason why we lost.

Dustin Keller becomes a footnote if we stop settling for field goals.

not sure how you quantify having called three good game's as an offensive cordinator....His first 2 games, his offense was pretty much out of sync, along with his QB's timing, and the third game, he had 2 favorable down and distance's to score inside the 10 to take the lead in the game... 6 passes, 0 run's, 3 point's..

Iam not sayin fire henning, but I def. have some philosophical, and some down and distance issue's with him, dating back to last year..

The play call is about as important as the execution itself. ****ty play calling combined with poor execution is what we are seeing in the red zone. It's not completely one or the other. It's a combination of both.

we were ranked number 2 in red zone efficiency last year. i wouldnt be worried. its early. we have three new starters on the interior of the oline, a new receiver. takes time to jell

The problem was WANNY. He brought in a Qb that could not throw the out pass any better than my mom.

Wanny ball, is meant to be a run based team that plays excellent defense but if your team can also pass the ball, it's hard to stop, and a good scheme to run.

That is basically the Air Coryell offense in a nut shell. Pound the ball to open up passing and take time off the clock. Spread the field with some deep passes to oversized Wr's. Add in some defense and there you go.

Wanny's stubborn *** should have kept with what he learned instead of being so one demensional. He followed the blueprint he was taught almost to a tee by hiring Norv Turner, who runs a Coryell based offense, but that's where Wanny's stubborness took over. He gets one of the better OC's in the game then handcuffs him to run run run....
