1. LB Jaylon Smith Notre Dame 2. CB William Jackson CB Houston 3. OL Denver Kirkland Arkansas 4. OG Landon Turner North Carolina http://walterfootball.com/draft2016.php I don't have an opinion on Kirkland, but from what I've seen I'd take Joshua Garnett over Landon Turner.
I'd stay away from Jaylon Smith as I think he picks the wrong holes too many times. If he can chase and hit then fine, but he is all over the place. We need a guy who will stay home as Jelani Jenkins is not exactly instinctual.
My biggest question with Smith so far is his ability to shed blocks. The athletic ability certainly is there, great lateral quicks and burst. I'm watching more Jalen Ramsey, and the more I watch him the more I like him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZzTGGyosQI I think that he would pair great at FS with Reshad Jones and I see no reason that he couldn't play CB, has a little Tim McKyer in him.
Well, we're now in the #6 slot after Sunday, so we'll have more options than were listed here. Everyone else also had us with the tiebreaeker ahead of JAX last week too, though the only time it really matter is a week from now. If we're in the top 5, then I think we'll be able to get Jack, Hargreaves or Ramsey, so we don't need to worry about Smith.
I lean going best CB over LB at this stage if we sit at #6 or #7 in 1st round. We will most likely rotate with other (hopefully 5 win teams*) so in the 2nd or 3rd look for best LB (inside or outside), and if outside LB, then just move Misi to MLB if have to. * I am not sure we dont screw up our draft order with a pointless and meaningless W vs NE.
Every time I look at the linebackers, two jump out at me; Jarrad Davis from FU (staying in school another year) and Myles Jack. Jack has that twitch and power, cover ability, and like a lot of supremely athletic guys he plays bigger than his listed numbers. If we're remaking the corps, that's the guy I start with. He's special.
