I don't know if any of you heard Vontae on NFLN's "Total Access" show tonight, but he said that he and Sean Smith are the best CB tandem in the NFL. He's funny. You gotta' dig him. True or not, I don't mind what he said. The guy is showing some attitude and some moxie or whatever. If anything, he's now going to have to make sure he plays as hard as possible to back it up. :pointlol:

Good on him for saying it, and probably believing it.
    Bit of a stretch though.

They may not be the best yet, but they are up there IMO, only after 2 seasons.

    BTW... hottest avatar ever bro.

They're top 5, IMO. They certainly can be the best CB tandem by the end of this year, I think.

After this season... I think theres a solid chance they'll be in the discussion. Kids were in a new defense last year as well. Both have matured a lot and I think both are ready to take the next step in their games. If Smith shakes off the drops... dude is gunna be scary. And IMO... Vontae already is...

If Sean catches the ball and Vontae gets a little more consistency then I think they are top 5 without a doubt. I do like the bravado, back it up though.

According to PFF, they were/are the best duo...

Sean Smith graded out to 8th overall, and Vontae at 14.

    Revis and Cromartie? 18 & 53.

    Namdi and Asante? 24 & 25. DRC? 100.

(Last year) Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall? 33 and 20.

Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson? 7 & 56.

It's basically just a **** you to Revis and Cromartie.

    I like it a lot.

Revis is Revis and I'd take him over Namdi only because of age, but I wouldn't touch Cromartie and his 85 children with a 10 foot pole. The Jets can keep that chicken.

I never meant Cromartie is actually that good, but you know the Jets would be the ones most annoyed by Vontae's statement.

If you go by PFF and combine the grades of the starting corners, then KC's pair is better. Flowers 18.6 and Carr at 8.6 = 27.2

    Smith at 12.0 and Davis at 9.0 = 21.0
Tampa Bay, Barber at 13.2 and Talib at 8.9 = 22.1

I wasn't really commenting on you as much as making a statement about Cromartie. Ever Since he laid down in that playoff game against the Jets when he was in San Diego I've been less than impressed. He's one of those guys that is more name than anything. And yeah, the Yets are the ones who would immeadiately come to mind as being annoyed by Vontae's comments. But that is a good thing, I like when the Yets are annoyed.

I don't buy them as the best cb tandem in the league (at least not yet) but I don't have a problem with the comment. It's not a position where humble guys tend to succeed.

Some might even say it's poetic! Henne and ***.. just sayin..

Hope he proves us nay-sayers all wrong this year. My only concern is that when I watch him I always know where hes going as he locks on. Good defenses see this and make him pay.

I have to agree there. While Davis and Smith are certainly up and comers, I can't yet put them in the top spot.I hate to say this but just because Revis is so good, you have to put Revis and DRC at the top.(does anyone know how difficult that was to type)…

Here's whats crazy about Vontae saying this...If Smith continues his play from last year, and doesn't drop every pick to go along with it, and Vontae is more consistent. Hes 100% right. and I don't see it close to be honest. You don't have a more well rounded tandem then these two. Revis is the best in the NFL. But Cromartie gets his fair share of burns and he is a super negative in the run game. NA is a top 5 CB in Philly and Samuels is a play maker. But Asante gives up his fair share of catches and is not a good run defender either. Vontae and Sean are the best run defending CB tandem in the NFL already, all we need is Vontae to be a little more consistent and they will be the best cover tandem to.

It was probably pretty difficult considering DRC plays for the Eagles, not the jets...lol

I love the swagger...hope they prove it this year. They're so close to noone doubting it. I think alot of receivers QBs and CBs in the league respect what they do...but it seems the average media clown, player, and fan don't see it. Hope they make it blatantly obvious week 1 vs NE

Is one of the two kissing wearing a Henne jersey too, along with Ms Fine@ss? Maybe Chad took the pic of the two kissing, such as he come home and caught the missus swapping spit with the cleaning lady?

Dumbest thing I've heard in quite some time, and I'm being completely honest. Sean Smith started 8 games last season and you guys wanna put them in the Top 5? LMAO!!!!

You all are delusional! Keep selling more Jet gear in Miami.

He started every game the year before as a rookie though and was benched for not showing up to meetings on time, being prepared, etc. I think that benching re-focused him. That said, I don't think Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are among the top duos of CBs in the league, yet. But they're on their way.

No, delusional is thinking a 35 yr old Wr after 2 yrs in the can is going to replace Braylon Edwards.

Factual is both grading out better then Revis and Cromartie via PFF.

Can they among the top duos in the league? Sure, I mean there's only about 5-7 teams with above average CB tandems, but to say that they are on top of the list is pure stupidy. I give Davis plenty of credit because he actually has game, but the other guy sucks IMO.

    Here are my top list:

    Revis & Cro
    Nnamdi & Samuels/DRC
    Woodson & Williams
    Robinson & Grimes
    McCourty/Bodden

Why should padre go and look for you, don't you know how to spell PFF?

BTW, Davis and Smith grade out as the best duo in the league, according to PFF.
