http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-04-22/titans-coach-no-chance-of-vince-young-coming-back I'd still like to have VY in Miami simply because it would go against what every FO has tried since Marino retired, that being find the talented Qb who is healthy and work from there, instead they reach, trade to much for, or select Qb's from the bargain bin.
Normally I'd take a guy who has had problems and be optimistic about him turning it around in Miami, with Vince though I really don't see him ever getting his head right and having the maturity he needs.
Hard to tell with him though, I think he can do more than he has on the football field also think CJ2K was vastly underrated in TN, so they could just ride him and take the pressure off of VY when he did manage to play, the great unsaid about him is he has played maybe 20 games in 2 or 3 seasons.
damaged goods. I want my starting QB to be mentally strong, something I don't believe VY has in him. I'd rather take my chances at Henne + drafted QB, or C Palmer if he becomes available at a more reasonable price.
Makes sense, then again though do not under estimate the impact of Mike Vick's resurgence in Philly a Qb needy GM cannot help but think the same thing could happen with Vince Young. Question to me is whether or not Ireland sees Young as Vick Jr or just a knucklehead with no work ethic and little drive to be great.
It would be worth our time to sign Young to a short term deam if FA ever opens up. We need to add at least 2 QB's to our current roster. Let Young and Henne compete for a starter postion. Fischer was as much of the problem as was Young in Tenn. If handled correctly I think Young can at least be a competent starter caliber QB in the NFL. If we have a shot at getting him I would go after him. I would not get into a crazy bidding war for him though.
Nice to see you posting again Padre. None of us really know, we just see the history and interviews and make our best guesses. I think he's a good guy and capable of good things on the field, just not confident he'll ever have the head to handle it all. How much of his problems had to do with Fisher? Who knows. If he's cut and you can sign to a short term deal the risk might be worth it, but will a team gamble and offer more than that? I hope he does get things right and has success as long as it's not against us. Ideally I'd love to get Palmer for cheap and draft a project guy in the later rounds, like the guy in my signature.
I'm curious why you think Fisher was as much of the problem as young. I viewed it as Fisher had come to the conclusion that Vince Young's skillset was simply not good enough to get the Titans where they needed to go and therefore did not want to waste time playing him. I'd be fine with Vince Young as a backup, I just don't want the guy as my 1st string QB.
Hmm, sometimes a Qb can put themselves into the coaches doghouse and not be able to make it back out, maybe Fisher thought if Kerry Collins can lead them to 13-3 then VY was d-o-n-e in TN? Here is a nugget for you OF: The Vet Qb I'd really like may be on his way out of the Football Siberia that is Cinci? Carson Palmer will hit the open market as I've said all along..maybe..Mike Brown is nutty as a fruitcake and stubborn as a mule but still if Gabbert is being auditioned..
Vince Young is a QB from the bargain bin. The guy is trash. Expect even more mediocrity if we signed this bum.
