The article says they want to trade for a WR. Not sure where you're getting Davis to Miami out of that.

The implication would be for the prematurely-maligned Mike Wallace to be traded for Vernon Davis, straight up.

This is like a game of telephone where no one has any excuse.

The article isn't suggesting Vernon Davis is on the trade block. Why would they trade their best receiving option to fix their lack of receiving options?

OK...well, lets assume the OP means he thinks we should trade a WR for Vernon Davis.

Case 1) Mike Wallace. Fine, trade Mike Wallace, except who are you going to replace him with? Who is going to be a stretch option and match his outside speed? Nobody. Next...

Case 2) Brian Hartline. Forgetting the fact that the 9ers would never make that trade, why would you trade a WR who obviously has a very good repertoire with our Qb, who works very hard, runs very good routes, and is a great team player, for a diva TE who may or may not do well in our offense.

We have Charles Clay, hes on pace for almost 1000 yards. We dont need Vernon Davis

This thread needs to be moved. There's not even any mentions of the word "Miami" or "Dolphins" in the article, nor does the article suggest Vernon Davis is going to be traded. Oppositely, the article suggests the 49ers are going to be in discussion to acquire another play making receiver.

I'm usually pretty anti-thread moving but this one deserves it.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out the same thing. They have a lack at WR and Davis is about their only option right now so why would they trade him away ?? Also, Davis is the brother of our former ex-CB that has a bad taste in his mouth about us...he's not likely to be agreeable to any trade to us for that reason....

Still, our problems are not TE or WR...it's OL, period...

If the NYG were smart theyd swap Nicks for Davis since Brandon myers has been a huge disappointment. The NYG have Ruben Randle ready to take Nicks spot and the 49ers have Vance McDonald who they used a 2nd round pick on. Makes some degree of sense anyway....

Anyone who thinks we'll trade any of the three wide receivers we signed during the offseason (Wallace, Hartline, and Gibson) sometime this year is bat **** crazy.

Vernon Davis is not being traded, that is totally the opposite of what the article says. It posits that the Niners should go after Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt or Josh Gordon to try and give the offense another weapon aside from Davis.
