Okay, so I'm a full time recruiter in the Navy, married with a 3 year old and a five month old and I'm up for orders. Here are my options: New York City / North Jersey North/South Carolina West Michigan Pro's and Con's?
What kind of life/lifestyle are you looking for? The New York area will have the most options of things to do but it will cost the most by far. Western MI is quiet, to the point of comatose but it is quite beautiful. Do you mean Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids or all the way to Benton Harbor? As to the Carolinas, you are talking about areas which generally like the military and which has a lower cost of living. Ask more direct questions and perhaps you can get more specific answers.
I've lived in NY my whole life and have family in the armpit state (Jersey...just call it that cause its shaped like an armpit lol). The only exception was the time I spent away at school at U of South Carolina. Long island is a great place to raise a family albeit expensive as hell. South Carolina (and Im sure NC as well) is a great place to raise a family but a much slower lifestyle as Im sure youre accustomed to in Kentucky. Ive never been to Michigan at all so I cant really give an opinion on that. One thing i should point out....if youve never been to any of them, you should probably visit all three and make a decision that way. Ill be happy to contribute what I can though if you need specifics.
