Unless Ryan Tannehill Wins the Game Against Buffalo...

Discussion in 'Miami Dolphins Forum' started by shouright, Nov 14, 2012.

  1. I think RT has been playing pretty solid ball. As long as he continues to show progress I have no problem with continuing with the experiment of him being our starter. FTR Preseason I thought Moore should of been the starter and RT has proven to me that he has earned the opprotunity he is being given.

I was not overly impressed with him last week but Im not overly critical of his performance either. It looked to me that while he did not carry the team or inspire those around him to a higher level, he also was not the one that was stinking up the joint. I would not hang the lack of offense on him as much as I would his surrounding cast.

I like the idea of Tannehill carrying this team on his arm, but the reality is this team wins with defense and just NOT turning the ball over. Out of the 8 games Ryan has played (not counting the 30 point game against the Jets when Moore QBed most of the game) Miami has scored...10, 35, 20, 21, 17, 17, 20, 3 (17.87 ppg)...the 35 point game against the Raiders has more to do with Reggie running wild and, well, the Raider defense. The 4 games Miami has won opponents scored 13, 13, 14, 9 (12 ppg). I just don't see Philbin/Sherman game-planning to make Tannehill "the man" after his performance last week against what was the worst pass defense in the NFL based on defensive QB rating (108 QB rating).

If it's his own aversion to not throwing more intermediate and long passes then that kind of worries me. But even if it is, it's ultimately the coaches' responsibility and they need to try and get the ball downfield more. Hoping for Bush to break a long run and throwing slants and 7 yard curls aren't getting it done.

You have to consider we signed Gaffney to spread the field and he is about as smart as a box of hair.
Most would understand he still doesn't get it.
Not to mention you might not understand the WC offense.
I like the hurry up idea till you get in 3rd and long. Critical penalties from the OL haven't helped at all.

lol get the ball downfield to who? there's only so many times Hartline can fool a defense with his double move. we have no deep threats. we don't even have any red zone threats. this offense is limited because the personnel is limited. this was the most predictable aspect of the team going into the season, so i really don't know why everyone's shocked the offense doesn't have more big plays.

Tannehill needs help on offense. Paging Mr. Egnew. Paging Mr. Egnew.

I think it's time he sees the field. Even if it's just as a second TE on passing downs he has more athletic ability than our WR's all things considered. If nothing else in preseason he showed he could get open even with his dropsies.

Offseason priority #1 has to be getting some sort of receiving threat.

If they lose Thursday, they should just cut Tannehill. Clearly he doesn't have it in him if he loses in the 10th game of his rookie season. Total trash.

    Not really.

Unfortunately we can all see a scenario where Tannehill plays really well but we lose bc of dumb **** like turning the ball over in the running game and st and/or the defense making mistakes and collapsing.

The question in my mind is how will the Bills defense play against Tannehill? If they blitz alot he'll be fine as he is at his best against that type of pressure. If they play the Titians type of coverage thus waiting for him to flub it then the Bills have a real chance to win this game.

If we stop the run and yet can run against them then Tannehill only needs to manage the game well.

Its way to early to think he can/will carry the load IMO.

Well, that was about the exact opposite of what this team needed last night.

Well, he had exactly the kind of game today I thought he needed to have, for this team's sake this season, against Buffalo.

Hopefully it's not too late for it to have the effect I thought it would have.

How the team plays the rest of the year will determine it either way. :)

However, I can tell you right now that I'm among the 100% of the population who on occasion is wrong. ;)
