B Graham....Like CK said, with a dire situation at linebacker across the board, It just feels right...and, the player is a great one, so its a safe one, which I like when picking early. Nice mock, agreed on claussen, the dude has serious skeletons, and a flimsy game.
Somebody is going to get a hell of a player in the 2nd rd if that mock kept going (Spikes and Bowman).
I can't shake my bias against Claussen. I could see him going late 1st to the Vikings, I wouldn't take him sooner than that.
Could B Graham convert to ILB ala Bruschi? I ask because short arms are not a detriment at ILB and Graham would have the other attributes needed to be a high impact ILB..or no?
I think the short arms thing might be just a little bit overplayed. Wasn't noticing short arms on the tape. As a tackle prospect I'd be concerned. Although I think the RT from Miami on the Texans had some freakish short arms. As a D-End I would be a little concerned. But a rush linebacker, much less concerned. Especially given that he's only going to spend a fraction of the time putting his hand on the ground.
Are you seeing Graham as the weakside or strongside OLB? To me, he could play either, if Roth, who infamously had "t-rex arms" can play the strongside, then surely Graham could?
Could play either. A lot depends on what is available in free agency and what Cameron Wake convinces us he can do.
Taking Brandon Graham with Rolando McClain still on the board is going to result in a suicide watch in some quarters. I like the pick of Bryant to JAX, that's a logical destination, especially considering how poor that team has been at WR since Jimmy Smith retired. Spiller to the Browns, however, makes little sense to me. I think if both Bradford and Clausen are off the board, they'll either trade down or draft a defensive lineman.
Which one though? Shaun Rogers is properly reined in now, so Dan Williams isn't in it for them. Derrick Morgan? Wouldn't you think of him as more OLB in that system? Jared Odrick might be rising but I don't know that he's rising up to #7 overall. Brian Price won't grade that high. As for trading down, that's way too low a chance of happening. I don't do mock drafts with trades, generally. RB is a position that Mike Holmgren values. James Davis only took 29 snaps in 2009, don't know how you can count on him. Jerome Harrison was ok but he was behind a good line and he never scared anyone, just kind of mediocre I think. Spiller is a guy that defenses will be scared of. Gives Brady Quinn an underneath outlet in the passing game. I considered Dez Bryant but not with the investments they've already laid on Massaquoi and Robiskie, Chansi Stucky, plus Mike Furrey and Josh Cribbs. Holmgren doesn't seem to be a guy that goes too far out of his way with WRs anyway. Holmgren already has his LT, I don't think he'd consider an OL with a #7 overall pick. Earl Thomas would make sense to Cleveland.
I was ready to join you on the Pitchfork and Torch parade to Davie if they drafted Jake Long #1 overall... I know it makes surface sense for the Jags to draft a passrusher at #10 or #11, but they invested a top ten pick into Derrick Harvey and they are sort of stuck with him, they paid him now they have to make something out of him. Their Offense was possibly less threatening than our 08 offense without the WC.
Derrick Morgan might work for them. That's around the area he should be drafted anyway. They're mostly set at OL, or at least set enough that they don't need to look at the line at #7. They MIGHT go with a corner, but I don't see that happening. Never said you should, just holding out the possibility. I really think they're in it for a QB. Holmgren knows know important those are. (Actually, another possibility: if Seattle drafts a QB, I wonder if Cleveland investigates a trade for Hasselbeck...) Jerome Harrison, once given the chance, set the NFL on fire in December. (Helped me win a fantasy championship...) I think they have enough bodies at that position with Harrison leading the rotation to not worry about a running back in the 1st round. Agreed on all points. But don't eliminate the possibility of Cribbs being used as trade bait.
Correction. Jerome Harrison lit the Chiefs on fire. He averaged 3.8 YPC against Oakland and 3.8 YPC against Jacksonville. I don't think the Browns will see Harrison as a reason not to draft Spiller but we'll see. I could see them taking Earl Thomas.
Mangini still seemed pretty devoted to feeding him as the season wound down. They probably like Spiller, but not enough to take him at #7. Earl Thomas is definitely an option.
As a corner, maybe. I highly doubt he is considered over Joe Haden though. I think Cleveland takes Joe Haden - a top 5 talent that will likely be there when they draft.
I still find it hard to believe the Jags go WR with Sims-Walker on board and several other needs. They could use a WR, but I wouldn't say they need one. At least not in the 1st round.
Duh I did read the rest of the thread but I wanted to see the 1st rd. Ur Nuts Maj...... U get it?!?! Buckeye Nuts ..... Ok I will shut up....
