I've been watching UT videos trying to get a better feel on Hunter, Patterson and Rogers. I keep on thinking the same thing- man, Tyler Bray has one heck of an arm. He's 6-6, very strong arm, looks accurate- why is he never in the discussion as per 1st round QB's? There must be something- his stats TD/INT ratios look ok, but to any Tennesse or SEC fans out there, what is the downside with this guy? There must be something or he's be rated as a sure fire 1st rd pick imo. ps great play by Patterson here at 3:10, reminds me of Joe Adams last year. I still can't quite figure this guy out, I think that my concern is that he's a better athlete than a pure WR. Da'Rick Rogers stands out to me as an outstanding WR, Patterson stands out to me as an outstanding athlete. He just strikes me as a bit raw, and therefore a bit risky. Confusing, imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx6pGFvDqt0
I wouldn't be opposed to Landry Jones if he sinks but I'm not that into Tyler Bray. TBH if you want to groom a guy for a backup role, why not Sean Renfree? Physically gifted, helped bring Duke to heights previously unheard of, and at least you know the guy's been coached pretty damn well. Or take a chance on Nick Florence.
I don't see much to Jones besides a good arm. Bad footwork, not terribly mobile, poor pocket presence. I'd rather take a blind flyer on Bray, because I just don't see it with Jones. He strikes me as best a career backup, and not a very good one at that.
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/futures/2013/futures-tennessee-gunslinger-tyler-bray There is a very good, detailed article by Matt Waldman over at Football Outsiders on Tyler. He details "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" about Tyler's game.
I don't see a hitch at all, I think that he has a great delivery. As per the comparisons to Cutler, I like him but what has always bothered me about his throwing motion is how wristy it is- I'm always looking for him to sail a pass over a WR into the arms of a Safety. That reminds me, painfully, of Jay Fiedler. Bray looks more like a slinger to me, but I really haven't noticed a hitch, I'll take another look.
