Sparano, a long-time assistant coach who is still getting used to the spotlight (and the billboards) that come with being an NFL head coach liked what he saw out of his team Saturday. There is still plenty of work to do, of course, but for him -- no matter how it's sliced -- this was definitely a new beginning.

"I was happy when I got here and I saw a lot of players here early on," he said. "They were as excited as I was to get out here. I sensed (that) when we got out here in stretch and walk through. Even in the meetings (Friday) night, there was a sense of enthusiasm and excitement to get back on the field and get back to work. It was exciting that way."
