Please give me an example of a quarterback who succeeded in spite of having a good team around him. And if Tua is as deficient as you seem to suggest, is his relative success this season because this team is literally the best offensive roster ever? Finally, is our lack of a running game your idea of perfection?

Every successful QB has talent around him. And every QB has physical limitations, so crying about Tua's arm strength without recognizing the problems with other QBs falls a little flat. And you know that roster is far from perfect. You're so locked in on trying to be right, you're totally ignoring logic and common sense.

You must hate all QB's in the league this year then since Tua is still leading in most QB stats. If he's leading the league while having that many bad games/half then what are the others doing?

No arguments about the 49ers game, he was terrible, it's an indefensible game but other top QB's have had games just as bad or even worse this season yet you don't see every talking head freaking out over it.

Now, if he plays poorly this week in a dome against a poor defence just because the national spotlight is on him I'll be concerned. Personally I think there is more chance he balls out and throws for 350 yards and 3 TD's than there is of him laying another egg like last week.

But didn't he beat the Bills and Ravens? Are they bad defenses? Or do those not count. Because most teams aren't top 10 defenses. Can't be.

Stop deflecting. If I was to take them over Tua, it doesn't change the fact that Tua leads the league in most passing metrics, even after his worst game as a pro. Read everything around that lifted quote for context of what I was saying. This was a sad attempt to steer the discussion away from the fact that Tua's playing at a high level and every great QB has had bad games.

Bills defense was decimated when they played us with half their starters injured, and Tua only played well against the ravens for 1 quarter when they decided to stop playing the deep ball and let Hill run free.

Curiously, other teams have played against the same defenses that we played and Tua's performance has been better than their QBs against common opponents. If logic serves, if a limited talent like Tua can manage a 112 passer rating YTD against "bad defenses", Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, and other great QBs should have a much higher rating playing against the same teams. Or am I missing something?

The Bills are 9-3. Was their defense only "decimated" against us? Who were we missing in that game?

And (LOL), the Ravens stopped "playing the deep ball and let Hill run free"? Are you even reading these before you're posting?

Leave it up to some fans to observe a historical performance and try to suggest it shouldn't count. I wonder if any Dolfans observed Dan Marino's 5,000 yard/48 TD season and questioned the teams that he beat to put up such high numbers?

Tua is just more an average to above average than elite type. Not totally deficient. This year he's been propped up by his immense weapons and weak opponents.

We have the 5th highest pass to run ratio in the league. This offense isn't committed to running . It's built to pass, so that's what it does. Quick passes over the middle, which is Tua's strength. Tua doesn't run and throw outside the pocket well. He doesn't have the arm strength for sideline outs (eg Gesicki throw). Arm strength matters when it comes to bad weather, and when you don't have your feet set. He'll always be limiting the offense's upside in some way. Good defensive teams will take away the middle of the field as SF did, and make Tua look confused. It's no secret what Tua does well. It's just his weapons are so elite, even a good defense can struggle. The Bills, Jets, and NE will all pretty much shut Tua down. Unfortunately, Grier went all-in on offense and then wasted a 1st rounder/shi* ton of money on a FA. Now we don't have any picks to upgrade the many positions needed to be a well rounded team. SF is the goal, and they can have a game manager Jimmy G, and still go deep into playoffs. I don't see the Dolphins as that team right now, or any time soon with the lack of draft capital.

Bills defense was missing more starters and top backups in their game against us than any other game they've had this year. And even with all their injuries, Tua didn't really have a great game against the bills.

Against the ravens, he played poor to average for 3 out of 4 quarters, and then the ravens had multiple defensive breakdowns with busted coverages and letting Hill run free without deep help in the 4th quarter.

Again, I have not seen Tua do it concistently against good defenses and in adverse circumstances, which leads me to doubt he is a franchise QB who can lead us to the Superbowl.

Whenever Tua played decent defenses this year who were not decimated by injuries (New England, Cincy, Pittsburgh, San Fran), he struggled.

And stop with the Marino comparisons. Marino proved time and time again he can play well in adverse circumstances and with marginal talent around him. Marino didn't need everything to be perfect around him in order to show his greatness, Tua has not shown he can do that yet.

I will never get over the people that rooting for him to fail so they can be right. Hopefully its just a persona for the forum otherwise its seems like unnecessary misery added on to a fan that has had plenty of reason to be miserable given the teams usual mediocrity.

It's complicated. Some aren't rooting for him to fail, but they've dug in deep and said they know he can't be a franchise QB and now that receipts are being pulled, they're defending their credibility. Most of them have actually proven that their contention that they wanted proof was genuine and have pumped the brakes on trashing him. Some have admitted that he's having a great year, even if they don't take back what they said before (which is fair). Others are just trying to stir up dust because they get satisfaction from getting a rise out of people. You know which ones they are because they disappeared over the five game win streak and popped up loudly after the loss.

If we won a Super Bowl with Tua under center, those posters would be quick to point out every missed pass and every incredible catch as reasons for why Tua wasn't the reason for the win. They're not to be taken seriously, but they gave new life to this thread. God bless 'em.

Personally, I owe a big apology to the first type of his skeptics for reacting to them the same way that I reacted to the other. Those posters were genuine and I see it in hindsight.

This is such a consistently dumb strawman paraded out by you and your ilk.

If you are rooting for a pig to fly, and I say pigs can't fly. My assertion that pigs can't fly has absolutely nothing to do with me rooting for it. Some of you are incapable of rooting for something, and also being critical of it. You can do both. Like chewing gum and walking I guess. It's more just your emotional attachment to a player not allowing you be critical of it. Which is obviously something that makes sense with friends and family, not a player that doesn't know you live.

In 2022, The Miami Dolphins have faced 5 of the Top-10 scoring defenses in the NFL. SF leads the league (15.8 points allowed per game) while Buffalo ranks 4th (17.4), the N.Y. Jets are 6th (18.6), New England is tied for 7th(18.8) & Baltimore is 9th (19.7). Miami is 3-2 in those games. So where's the narrative now about facing bad defense and losing? Oh that's right, Baltimore was hurt (we don't have ANY injuries), Buffalo was ______ and New England was _________ (fill in the blank with excuse). I don't think Tua played against the the Jets. So he's actually 3-1 in games he's played.

"Weak arm" seems to be strong enough on this throw. He released when Hill was on the 25 yard line.

Deep passes such as these aren't something that requires arm strength. What is this 45 yards? It's loft, accuracy, and timing.

Arm strength throws are throws to the sidelines and off balance throws. Throwing bullets when you don't have your feet under you is what arm strength is. That's where Tua struggles.

"throwing Bullets" here we go again...Yeah, Herbert was throwing some bullets last week during the loss to the Raiders. Bullets...Puh-lease....Keep pushing your agenda. You've been as silent as a fart in church for the last five weeks and suddenly show up to gloat because it supports your agenda.

I'm just going to say this...it doesn't matter if Tua beat up on poor defenses. That's. What. He's. Supposed. To. Do. For so long, we've had QBs that couldn't beat up on poor defenses. On Sunday, I can't blame the guy for missing passes. He was under pressure so fast, and I sure as **** don't want to see Tua start taking hits because he's trying to to get to 2.75 seconds to throw instead of 2.5. We were running 3 backup oline, weren't we?

People aren't being too objective right now

Objectively, he was pressured LESS against SF than he was against Houston or Cleveland (last number is pressure %). He wasn't pressured all that much. Personally, I saw him fearful of being hit than actually pressured.

No the OL played really well the 1st half, let up some pressure in the 2nd but nothing like the constant pressure we've seen in past games where Tua played really well. This loss (95% of it at least) was on Tua. He was missing wide open receivers with little to no pressure in too many cases. As I said before I'll only start to worry if it becomes a trend, but this loss was on Tua.

He’s been waiting 5 weeks to put that segment out, he believes even less in Tua than you as he’s not a “big, strong armed QB”. He also believes Darnold, Mayfield and Wilson are better than Tua so he’s not worth paying attention to.

Well here we will disagree. I routinely saw Tua throwing the ball with defenders in his face. And they were quick throws.

Looks about 48 yards in the air and perfectly in stride. It’s funny that the 50 yard ones he was under throwing was due to him not having the arm strength but a pass that is 2 yards shorter is all about timing.

The out to Gesicki was poor ball placement btw, again nothing to do with arm strength as he needed to put the ball closer to the sideline and he threw it back shoulder.

It’s obvious he doesn’t have the biggest arm but his lack of it is also being overplayed.

You wouldn't disappear otherwise. You would be here at least taking joy in the good run even if you didn't believe in it continuing. Or maybe some kind of recognition that he isn't as bad as you thought? Or anything that suggests you enjoyed him or them playing well?

What should I think when you have nothing to say other than Tua is bad? I can't come up with any good explanation from someone that thought that there would be no gap between Tua and Teddy or someone that thought they should start Skylar over Tua. You can't really talk about emotions when your takes are that ridiculous.

Na. The ball died and allowed the defender to catch up. It's lack of arm strength, and timing on that play. You can make up being late with a strong arm. Tua doesn't have that club in his bag so everything needs to be perfect, which becomes a problem as you face better teams and weather. He did the same to Waddle in the game. Ball towards sidelines just dying because of lack of arm strength. Protection was good.

lol..The reason I stay out of the mains is because of people like you. Let's take a look at some other QB's who had bad games this year.

Josh Allen 3 weeks in a row:

    Mahomes:

Dude...just STFU. These "strong armed" QB's had horrible days against defenses that don't compare to the 49ers. Tua had a bad game. Yet the Dolphins were within 1 score with 5 minutes to go. You're clueless...

Brad I won't deny that Tua played a part in the loss but wasn't all on him. The D allowed Purdy to play and look like he's an All-Pro HOF QB. They are softer than baby **** this season.

It was nothing to do with arm strength and all about ball positioning. If you believe he doesn't have the arm strength to throw a 5 yard out to the near side then have at it because it's just not worth talking over.

Same with the Waddle throw, nothing to do with arm strength and everything to do with ball positioning.

You are right he has played good when he is supposed to.We haven't that in a long time but I don't agree with you it was the pressure.Especially in the first half as he was just missing wide open guys.Of course every QB has bad games as watching Josh Allen this year will attest to.The problem with this team is he can't have another one because this team is not good enough to overcome it.
I think we blow the chargers out this week and Tua has a big game. The real tests will be 3 out of the next 4 weeks as we play really good defenses.2 are in the cold so we will all see if Tua can play in these conditions.Hoping he proves he can!
