If we're looking for an immediate upgrade to the OL, I'd be looking for Jerry's replacement. The guy is the biggest liability along the line. I don't see anyway he's still on the team come 2014
I agree that the problem is worse on the right than the left, but Martin is on the left and he's a problem.
He very well may be, but he's also a 2nd year, developing player. What are John Jerry and Tyson Clabo's excuses?
I really don't know whether they're not strong enough, not quick enough, have lousy technique, are not picking up the blocking scheme, are not coordinating, are not communicating or are being badly coached. None of us likely do. But whatever it is, a decision has to be made on whether it's fixable before someone gets killed or crippled in the backfield.
Jerry has never been anything above average in his best of games. He missed a lot of camp and preseason with the leg injury, which delayed his conditioning - not that he has ever been dedicated to his craft to begin with. As for Clabo, he is on the downside of his career at this point, but still has played worst than expected. I think Turner and Sherman need to figure this out by the time we face the Patriots...
I think they need to change some things, and perhaps personnel during the bye week; and yes, the Dolphins should try to make a trade for an OL or even two. Jerry and Clabo could both be released as far as I am concerned. I would take either Matt Tobin or Anthony Collins at tackle and at OG I like the idea of making the Bucs an offer for Gabe Carimi. Ya, I know, but I still believe in Carimi, and he is still young.
