Miami Dolphins teetering between “contender” and “pretender” - Realfootball365.com When the Miami Dolphins lose, there’s bound to be a ton of fan buzz regarding the current and future state of the franchise. Some see a loss as an indication of a cellar-dwelling organization that needs to return to the drawing board during the offseason. Others view a defeat as simply a momentary speed bump on Miami’s inevitable course toward NFL supremacy. This was inspired by barrage of exchanges on this board after yesterday's loss. Give it a quick read and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Good stuff Hugo. I'm one of the folks who believes we are a franchise on the rise, we just need to get some more experience under our belt. We're getting their fast though. From 1-15 to talk of playoffs in less than a year. Pretty impressive turnaround.
Like I posted below the article. This team is young and is learning. Yesterday was just a speed bump. This was the first Big Game this team has had in a long time. It was also at home against a Division Rival. We have to learn to play in these types of games.
We are definitely much improved and headed in the right direction. We already way surpassed our record from last year. =D We can't fill every hole, as we were left with many, in one draft and one off-season. We're finally building things the right way, with the foundation, the trenches first. Look at how much more time our QB has now as opposed to the past, which was snap...2 seconds...crushed! To question or doubt or be depressed about this team at this point is crazy IMO. Rome wasn't built in a day, to use a cheesy cliche', but it's true. I mean, we fans already have had so many more great moments this year than last, to say the least. Remember last year? I couldn't even go out and watch the games, there was just no hope. I have faith these guys will continue to build things the right way. We'll finish with the trenches. We'll hopefully get a good LB/pass rusher in the draft. We'll find a way to start to upgrade the secondary. In this process, we also are not crippling are future by signing big name free agents for tons of cash. We're doing things the right way. Just be patient and enjoy the ride. Like I said before, the ride already has been a lot more fun than last year, to say the least.
Thanks for the kind words and the comments on the article! I think that the Dolphins are still a few players away from true Super Bowl contention, but as far as being pretenders, I guess it all depends on how you define that word. Most importantly, I'm just glad that we can even have this conversation, instead of mulling top 5 picks in the 2009 draft!
nice stuff man. All it takes is a W this weekend and we're in the thick of things again. While its not a certainty because the rams will be hungry, i deffinetely think its possible.
