While I know this is not Dolphin news or really sports news, just wanted you guys to be thinking about the City of Hattiesburg and the University of Southern Mississippi, which was hit by a major tornado this afternoon. Lots of damage to the city, the University, and the local high schools.

The last link from youtube is amazing view. The good news here is USM was closed for Monday and Tuesday and few if any students were around. 15 injuries, non-life threatening according to county officials. Great news.

I heard that Oak Grove High School was hit pretty hard, and I saw a photo of what used to be their field house. Brett's house isn't far from there. I wonder if there was any damage done to his place. My wife's folks live approximately an hour west of Hattiesburg.

Weight room, press boxes for football and baseball destroyed according to reports. Serious damage to Hattiesburg High. And parts of USM seriously damaged. Oldest building on campus hit hard. Mixed reports on injuries. Some reported, but no information on extent of injuries. Petal got hit really hard as well. Update: Petal may have been hit harder than Hattiesburg.

There were no classes scheduled Monday and Tuesday in that USM gives their students a Mardi Gras Holiday. That was a good thing in this situation. On a sport note involving this situation, all three of the most local high schools had severe damage to their baseball fields, one of which has a car laying on its side right around the pitching mound. No reported loss of life. Your thoughts are most appreciated.
