This is a difficult list to come up with, being that there's only 5 spots. My list is 5. Paul Stanley 4. Bruce Dickinson 3. Ronnie James Dio 2. Robert Plant 1. Axl Rose
I don't care what you say, Axl Rose IMO is the greatest Rock & Roll singer ever to live. I'm not going to knock your list, my brother...
I went with mostly metal w/ mine Ronnnie James Dio Freddie Mercury Bruce Dickinson Rob Halford Bon Scott
Not knocking your list bro. Just always thought that Axel was a perfect example of right place, right time. Mediocre songwriter, and VERY limited vocal talent. Proof positive by the disaster that's calling itself G&R these days.
Limited vocal talent as compared to a guy like Freddy Mercury, for certain. But the man has the PERFECT voice for down and dirty Rock & Roll, IMO. You gotta be kidding me. I LOVE Chinese Democracy, you couldn't possibly have given it a fair chance if you're calling it a disaster. BTW, I've seen both lineups, and the new GNR is a MUCH tighter band than the original. Little off topic here, but have you heard Chickenfoot? THAT is a disaster. Who would've thought that putting Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Sammy Hagar together would yield such crappy music?
you wanting to physically punch someone in the face because of how they dance makes me want to punch you in the face
He definitely fit the music. That, however, doesn't make someone a good singer. Bon Scott fit AC/DC and DLR fit Van Halen, but REALLY listen to their voices. Both of them suck wind. Yes, I've listened to it. It's not bad, but for an album 14 years in the making it sucks. You wait that long to release something, it better be "Abbey Road" or "Dark Side of the Moon". Be that as it may, it's not G&R. The new Thin Lizzy that's touring now is a MUCH better band than the orginal, but it ain't Lizzy. Haven't heard them yet, but I tend to shy away from anything Sammy Hagar does anyway.
I thought for sure that the combined awesomeness of Satriani, Anthony, and Hagar would kick ***. But they're just another crappy "supergroup".
Sorry bro...love his old solo stuff. Anything since joining Van Hagar....nope. No, it proves that a bunch of mediocre musicians, when put together and the planets align correctly, can become one of the biggest bands rock has ever known. Then when split apart, you realize that the whole was FAR greater than the parts that made it up.
I wouldn't be willing to say Slash is mediocre. While not at the same technical level as a guy like Steve Vai, he's nothing less than brilliant (sorta like my absolute favorite guitarist, David Gilmour). Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, yes. Mediocre. In everybody's defense, the whole is almost always greater than the sum of it's parts. That's just the way of the universe. It's true in music, sports, business, whatever.
Magic is real. Music is an indication of that. Guns n Roses were one of the greatest rock bands EVER because they had rock n roll in their hearts and souls. The rock spirit moved them to write classic songs about girls and drugs. And they kicked *** doing it. Its not about paradiddles and complicated basslines. Its about living rock n roll. Steven Adler was a crappy drummer. So what? Appetite for Destruction ROCKS.
Axl Rose is a prick who has left his fans high and dry at concerts.. and that doesn't even take away from the fact that the man can't sing for **** and dances like a man who has injected himself with estrogen. Seeing as Axl thinks he is "guns and roses" the whole group sucks. The best thing about them is slash's hair/hat combo.
Keeping it strictly to metal and staying away from rock and punk 1) Rob Halford 2) Lemmy Kilmeister 3) Paul Dianno 4) Biff Byford 5) Algy Ward
