How would he sign a contract whose financial terms are still being worked out? He probably signed something else.
As Muck said, sounds strange to have signed a contract, with no financial terms Unless he simply said, "hey, im good, im just happy to be here, the rookie minimum is nice, of course if you want to pay me more, thats cool too, im just thrilled to be here." I can't see that being true but it would be pretty cool if it was.
There's definitely something amiss about that sentence...Signed his contract but financial details being worked out ?? Seems odd to me...they/he may have meant he signed an injury waiver for the OTA's and minicamps. I don't know that they get contracts going this soon. Or it could be that they said you are going to be slotted here, with a minimum figure of 'this'...that may have been enough for him to be satisfied, but I can't imagine him signing a rookie contract without the financials in there. Either way, I'm happy for him and hope he turns out to be our next solid OLB...
He could have signed a 3 year deal worth 1.8 million, but they are still working out roster bonuses, signing bonuses etc. They are meager, sure, but they still exist and wouldn't affect the overall value of the contract.
