Well, it depends on how that percentage came about. If these "guru" assessments as you say were not quantified by taking into account the system that generated them no yeah they are worthless. If a assessment is based on completion percentage solely then it is flawed to begin with.

Competion precentage doen't have much to do with accuracy, and it's true. If I only throw the ball to cover 8 yards it doesn't mean I'm accurate if I complete it 2/3 of the time. Maybe the receiver has great hands and catches all of my errant throws. Maybe I threw underhanded. Obviously those are the extreme, but my point is a stat doesn't for a player make.
