Found this on PFT. According to ESPN's QBR, Denver's Tim Tebow outplayed Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers. Tebow went 4/10 for 79yds and a TD, (which was a screen) and rushed 6 times for 38yds and a TD for a 83.2 rating Rodgers went 26/39 for 396 and 2 TD's for a 82.1 rating Kind of funny if you ask me, but for some of our stat guys on here, guess Tebow is a better player than Rodgers.
If he's trying to show stats are misleading, I think it proves exactly that. The downfall of statistics.
Lucky, the point of the PFT post was that the QBR system is flawed. Which it obviously is. I think they factor in "swagger" or something lol
Not at all. What he proves is anyone can play well for 10 passes. Thus the reason for not accepting stats with such small sample size. And trying to compare someone saying this QB is better then that QB while pointing to stats, to someone saying a QB that attempted 10 passes in garbage time is better then the reigning super bowl QB while playing like the best QB in the NFL for a long stretch is flat out ridiculous. So no, he failed in every aspect of his post.
Nappy, this is not my opinion. This is about ESPN and their QBR system. This is not about me or my opinion.
Hmm...Maybe I overreacted, but you know because his name is Tim Tebow he automatically gains 20 points on espns passer rating.. Btw, what did you mean by this then
Thats really not the point. Yes it's a small sample size, which is part of the problem with statistics, as they can be misleading. And if he was in fact just pointing out the flaw in statistics, then no he is not saying tebow is better, he is in fact saying by espns qbr system, tebow a ****ty qb appears better.
Nappy, same thing Lucky said, stats are misleading. Some guys live and die by stats and according to this stat, Tebow is a better player than Rodgers.
Stats are more less meaningless in the NFL, not totally meaningless as they do show trends and general ideas, but to many people try to use them like they do in MLB.
Basically, I just showing that according to ESPN's rating system, Tebow was a better player than Rodgers.
Btw, it wasn't garbage time either. Orton got benched and I'm not sure when Tebow came in, but IIRC, he played the entire second half.
Well yeah. Stats are an attempt to measure complex systems, so most often what they appear to mean do not always mean that.
Total Quarterback Rating is a junk stat. According to TQBR, Dan Orlovsky is a better quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger. Please stop citing it.
