Just watching the game on rewind. In Philadelphia, and about 25,000 empty seats. The Eagles are 4-10....... Those fans in Philly are just so disloyal...... So now do some of the attendance whores on the board GET IT ? We're likely headed to our 4th straight losing season, and 6th of 7, and 8 of 10 LOSING SEASONS......do you guys finally get it. People are tired of the losing, and they're tired of paying premium prices for an inferior product. And not only has it been inferior for a while its been B O R I N G too. Its like watching a Red Zone offense for the whole game, only WE NEVER SCORE !
I couldn't agree with you more its like watching the same game over and over with the exception of 2008 for the last decade.
But yet there are those on this board who feel the stadium should be packed every week, and get their panties in a wad over it when the fans are EXERCISING THE RIGHT OF A CONSUMER to send a message to the front office, especially the owner that we aren't happy with the way the team is being run. If you go to a restaurant that serves you a bad meal, you likely don't return. The Dolphins have been serving rotten food for 10 years now. The last three the fans have they finally said NO MAS
Honestly, there are times other stadiums are as empty as Sun Life sometimes (the Jets had an empty stadium earlier this year, forget who it was against), but it never looks as bad, because their seats are black or gray. Our's are bright orange, and it contrasts heavily w/ the people in the seats. Very few people wear bright orange to the game. If The Phin's seats were a more standard color, or even a dark aqua, it wouldn't look as bad. I mean, when there are 20,000 empty seats, it looks like there are 45,000 empty seats w/ all that orange. Other stadiums just don't have that visual issue, so it looks like we're way worse off than we already are.
Thursday night attendance & the Dolphins Maybe attendance stays low and Ross moves the team then sells it to Magic Johnson. That's how we do in the 213.
well said. people certainly don't have to pay high amounts to attend games, but frankly I could care less about those people. if I lived in the area, I'd go to at least a few games a year, regardless of the price. because even in a losing season, you can get those memorable moments in a game which makes paying for the tickets worthwhile.
Denial.. Philly sells out every game, they left early..big deal, that fanbase is always there for their team, win or lose..the comparison is a joke.
That was always the Marlins problem there, and the fact that for years they had been playing in the largest stadium in baseball. But those orange seats were no problem when we 1st moved in there in 1987.
Not happening. Now could they end up in San Diego eventually, that I think could happen. I can see the Chargers moving to the new stadium in LA when its completed, and then a few years of no football in SD they might build a stadium if Miami's problems continue. People don't realize it, but our stadium is actually one of the older stadiums in use now. Soldier Field had a complete makeover about 7 or 8 years ago, so it is no longer really older than SL Stadium. The Superdome is slated to go on a $ 350 million makeover, and San Francisco is leaving for their new digs in Santa Clara in 2014. Didn't they approve a new stadium in Minnesota ? That would leave just Oakland, San Diego and Green Bay older, and I think even Green Bay had a makeover a few years ago. St. Louis plays in a stadium that is not as old as ours but is worse than ours, but I think that's it. Everyone else has newer and nicer digs than us. Its why I see no more SB's here until we get it fixed. The NFL has learned that they can do SB's up north (isn't it going to be in New Jersey next year ?) & they have other venues in the South that have better stadiums (Phoenix, Houston, New Orleans when its fixed, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay). Sure we have experience holding them, and we have the hotels they want, but the stadium experience is just not that good, and the rain during the Indy-Chicago game was hurtful. That's why I am not sure Dallas gets another one for a few years. That was horrible and the weather upstaged the game at times that week, and the NFL wasn't happy about that.
have you seen Kansas City's stadium recently ? At least 15,000 or more empty seats in what was once considered the best hardcore stadium fanbase. It's all about winning, and 7 of 9 and what looks to be an 8th in 10 seasons of losing records, it grates on people and they just don't feel they are getting their money's worth. The proverbial ball is in the Dolphins Court, lets see what they do with it, and how they get their fans back.
also need to remind you that LA has lost 3 teams due to low attendance (Chargers, Raiders and then Rams)
You have x amount of limited disposable income set aside for entertainment venues. You are a sports fan. Do you go Miami Gardens to see the Dolphins then hang out at Walmart, or go across town into the Brickell area and see the Heat, then maybe take a stroll through Bayside?
your taking small sample sizes and generalizing them to make comparisons to our situation..we're on a totally different scale..
The lack of vision was and is disturbing...and as fans, The team, our culture, has been and is paying for it..
What neds to happen is for three things to occur . #1 Fire Ireland #2 the ecconomy needs a major improvement. #3 we need players that can play and become superstars .
I doubt if some individuals on here will , "get it". They would rather spout off about how bad the fan base in South Florida is, than accept that many fans are just sick and tired of watching a boring and mediocre Dolphin team, year after year. Many NFL cities have fan bases which refuse to attend games when their teams lose on a continual basis. South Florida is no different. If the Dolphins want more fans in the stadium. Put an exciting and winning product on the field. There will be plenty of fans in the seats when that happens. Until then, more and more seats will remain empty and TV ratings for Dolphin games will continue to decline.
