I accept that the Dolphins are a mediocre team that failed to show up for the second half of the game today. I blame the loss on the coaches and the players, not the men in the stripped uniforms. That isn't whining, that is the reality of the game today. Whining and blaming the refs is for losers.

They want to see two/three more years of sucktitude before we give up on him. Their defense? Ryan was good in two quarters. Right, he was terrible in the other half though? The half that he lead us to ZERO points and three stupid interceptions and a fumble (another fumble at the red zone because he has no feel for the pocket collapsing and also he has small hands). Meanwhile the Patriots lost all pro Sebastian Vollmer, replaced him with a backup tackle, had offensive line issues the second half and still won the game.

I'm willing to bet that we'll see Matt Moore replacing Tannehill eventually this season. And it will be Philbin's call, it won't be because of injury it will be because of losing.

As bad as Ireland has been its a good thing you don't run this team. 3 years? Where did you come up with random number...do you have some anecdotal qb who fits this 3 year curve that you are prone to throw out there? Waiting 3 years is accepting mediocrity. You shouldn't accept that even if its your right to be a homer.

right, just like we should've given up on Odrick midway through his second year.
Players take take to develop. It's a fact of the game.

Thru next season anyway. Growing pains... Either Tannehill has it and or he doesn't, but you have to take your lumps with him for now. Regardless, we still need to churn either Moore or Devlin or both and procure another young QB - or maybe two.

Losing like this hurts, but you have to take your lumps and learn from them. Don't forget that Brady started the game with an INT and that we sacked him and he fumbled as well. S*** happens. It's how you respond and overcome that matters. We didn't respond well as a team. Some bad passes, some drops, some bad routes, bad Special Teams, bad calls... It all adds up and contributes to the loss.

I've been ranting about the offensive line since the preseason. Today has shown me that the offensive line is only the most glaring part of the problem. The rest of the problem is rooted in a general manager who doesn't know whom to draft, whom to pay, whom to let walk, and whom to re-sign, and a coaching staff that cannot put the players in a position to succeed, impart and execute a game plan, make adjustments, manage game situations, manage the clock, call deceptive plays or develop and motivate players.

What I saw in that second half was a mental and emotional collapse, because we were playing a team at home whose coaching staff is so far superior to ours that they could make adjustments where we couldn't, and had answers where we had none. This is to be expected when you are dealing with a coaching staff with Super Bowl and championship experience, versus a bunch of second year coaches who are learning on the job.

Since Shula left, we have been cleaning house and starting over several times. I now think that perhaps the thing to do is let these players and coaches have some stability, learn as they go and grow into a championship. Everything else has been tried.

Jeff Ireland doesn't block, kick, pass, or run. Guys still have to play and execute. We did it the first half.....so unless Jeff Ireland slipped mickies in the Gatorade, it ain't on him.

No. I've come to accept LB for who he/she is, which makes his/her posting comical at times.

These other posters however think Miami losing is a justifiable excuse to become ***** toward everyone.

I'm not a fan of what Ireland all in all, but how is this on Ireland? Mental breakdowns have to do with coaching. They have to beat Cinncy which is possible as the Jets are absolutely taking it from them and they may let up in the next game.

Ross is going to demand changes and he should, his move for McKinnie was timely. The next move should be canning Sherman and Turner.

With PI calls of the likes of what was called on Wilson first and Patterson second, I don't know how at a minimum a person can't acknowledge that they are at least demoralizing. IMO those 2 PI calls that were total Horse s*** and the ref that flagged Wilson wasn't even in position to see what actually happened.

The batted fumble by OV whether actual or not, was another weird, questionable play that resulted in a 30+ yard field position change. Totally deflates a defense.

I just don't understand how you can have less blockers then there are rushers. The worst part is the team is pretty damn talented. It's not above average, it's good. With good coaching and resiliency they should be 6-1. Philbin is actually trying to do that, but I think they're losing confidence in something. My guess is that it's Sherman and each other. The line in Tannehill, Tannehill in the line. There's a disconnect in the team.

The refs affected the Patriots and Jets game last week by making a call against the Patriots in OT that they didn't make against the Jets earlier in that game. This might have cost the Patriots the game against the Jets. It happens, but that is part of the game. Refs are human and they make mistakes. Get over it.

Look at the second half today without the bad call and you will realize that the Patriots just handed it to the Dolphins and beat them in every phase of the game. The Dolphins played just as well in the first half, but the game is 60 minutes long, not 30 minutes. I wanted the Dolphins to win today and I'm not happy they didn't win.

I just see the loss as more a result of the terrible coaching, and play of the offense, defense, and the FG kicker than a result of a couple of bad calls by the refs. The Dolphins didn't recover the fumble that was called a shove forward by the Dolphins. Yes the Dolphins would have pushed the Patriots back and perhaps the Patriots would not have scored a TD on that drive. But the reality is that the Dolphins defense wasn't doing anything to stop the Patriots in the second half. The offense of the Dolphins also scored zero points in the second half.

If the Dolphins had lost by three points or less, maybe I would feel different about the bad calls. I just think the Patriots would have won this game, calls or not, because they always find a way to win these type of games against the Dolphins and the Dolphins always find a way to lose them, bad calls or not. After getting ahead by 10 points, the Patriots started playing conservatively on offense. I think if they had been behind in the last few minutes of the game, Brady would have led them to a victory. So to me, complaining about bad calls, when they happen to every team in the NFL at one time or another, makes no sense at all.

I mostly agree with this. The Dolphins lost this game for themselves.

I still want to complain about the calls though :-)

Something I would expect of a person who refuses to do anything but whine and complain about the refs. Especially someone who can't tell the difference between something writing on this forum and speaking.
I find it very hard to understand how you can accuse me of diarrhea of the mouth when I have never spoken one word to you or anyone else on this forum.

I guess they don't teach you the different between writing and speaking in North Carolina.

There is a stench about this team. It's been there for years and I'm not sure what it is but since the 90s or so they've been the same old Dolphin. What it is, I can't explain but my take is that there simply are no leaders on this team that give you the kind of confidence to focus and not get rattled. The defense doesn't have a leader. It has a great bunch of guys but it needs one guy to force them to play with pride. You need attitude.

There is no way to know for sure of course, but those 3 calls all came on 3rd down on scoring drives. Had they been non calls as they should have been, I'd have liked Miami's chances.

True, we'll never know for sure. It definitely would have been a close one.

I just struggle to see the dolphins preventing a Patriots comeback with the way they were playing in the second half.

Critical game against Cincy. Not just the need for a win, but to lose five in a row has to rub on the psyche of a team. Hard to overcome. Can be done, but team would have to be clicking at a time when nothing is clicking to go on a such a run. I like Matthews. He will get his shot now. But teams needs a slot guy in my mind. Not necessarily a guy like Bess, but a tough dude who can catch over the middle and take a hit. (That could be Matthews I guess).

I don't like Jamie Dukes and Heath Evans sitting back and saying I told you so about Wallace and Long. Not sure I would agree regarding Long. I am starting to agree with them regarding Wallace. Stats while easily manipulated still read 33 sacks in 7 games. That is on the players and coaches.

I think Ireland's strengths are on the defensive side of the ball in terms of talent evaluation. Not sure what he has accomplished on the offensive side of things. Bess? Hartline? Pouncey? I give him those three. But overall, I give poor grades on a complete offensive squad roster.

Once again the game was really lost on mistakes. We simply cannot over come our mistakes. Offense, special teams, and defense... The INTs were little more than punts. The blind side hit/fumble was the game changer - along with 27 unanswered points.

How costly were the 3rd down penalties? The defense only allowed the Pats to convert 2 of 10 on their own. The other conversions were due to penalty.

Brady continues to to victimize Carroll every game we face them. Patterson is made up of butterfly wings and dandelions. Of course he gets injured AGAIN and Carroll comes in for 1 freaking play. Brady promptly tosses a TD against against a cold backup. Smart play by Brady. Carroll was lost.

Losing Gibson was huge. More devastating that losing Keller... That IMO was the turning point for the offense. Matthews comes in and promptly drops a ball in the numbers. Clay drops a lovely sideline throw that he had both hands on with a chance to run with and score. He finished 5 catches on 8 targets.

Wallace cannot be counted on for more than 1 or 2 routes and shows poor ability otherwise. 3 catches on 10 targets. Once again he showed poor zone awareness in knowing where the safety was. Otherwise he had an opportunity for a TD. Instead it was a circus catch that Tannehill had to throw away from his momentum and the closing safety that Wallace couldn't adjust to and dropped. I think it was the Ravens game that identical play was missed.

4th quarter. We're still running the play clock down before every freaking snap. WHY???? We needed that time.

    This team... ~sighs

His draft picks don't contribute anything. His best pick from this year is a kicker who is struggling. This coaching staff refuses to allow Jordan to play and would rather have Shelby in the game. The corners are usually inactive along with Dallas Thomas.

Its really frustrating, and sad that our picks can't sniff the field, and other teams 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders make impacts.

It is frustrating. Who's to blame though?

Is Ireland being sent to the store to buy ingredients to make apple pie and bringing home ingredients to make spaghetti? Or is he bringing home ingredients to make the apple pie and the coaching staff has no idea how to make it?

Dumb analogy I know but I'm sure everyone gets it. IMO, it's a mixture of both. I feel like they weren't on the same page for the draft or FA. The only solution IMO is to start over from scratch and let the new GM do the hiring. From what I've heard, Ireland wanted McCoy but Ross decided on Philbin.
