I dont give a damn what stats say about tendencies for 2nd down playcalls. You have a one point lead, late in the 4th quarter. You run the ball to eat the clock. Not try to outsmart everyone. You put the faith in your RB, and you ram it down their throats to kill the clock.

 

Give up the 3, drive and score please. Or you can just force a fumble and take over the ball on offense. Preferrably the latter.

Calling a pass on 2nd down isn't trying to outsmart anything. Stop playing the result. The OL was destroyed on the 1st down run play. Calling 3 predictable runs and having to punt on 4th and 4 is not a desirable outcome with 3 minutes on the clock.
