Yah I got that finally.

I could take hours doing that! LOL!

I just screwed around with the "priority position" list and messed with the depth chart thing a little bit.

I have a feeling that the trade thread will be VERY busy the day after the draft. No one is going to get everything they want and I'm sure everyone will be overloaded at certain positions and super thin at other positions.

 

Yeah, I'm not even going to bother with the draft board. That'll take hours to set. The default rankings are fine with me.

It's amazing how EA still hasn't issued a second roster update. Are they waiting for final cuts? Pennington is still a free agent.

I think I'm in as the Giants. I have no idea how to work this thing. So, are we doing a fantasy draft type thing? I see that some folks already have records.

Any help would be good. My handle is rdhstlr23

 

Madden Commandments:

Thou shalt run the ball! (Unless Peyton is at QB)
Thou shalt run the ball some more!
Thou shalt use playaction!
Thou shalt run the routes and pass when it is intended to pass on that route!
Thou shalt have a 3-4 second clock in your head of when the ball should be released!
Thou shalt NOT disrespect you opponent!
Thou shalt NOT get cocky!
Thou shalt not throw into double coverage!!!!
Thou shalt LEARN WHAT COVERAGE LOOKS LIKE!

Ok...that was a bit of drama. But real talk, if you want to be better at passing in Madden you need to think like a QB would. You need to know coverage and what your WR can get away with in those various coverages.

Cats that run Cover 2. Throw over the top and see if they got the safteies to stop you. Cats that run Cover 3. Killem underneath. Cats that play soft coverage, run curls. Cats that play tight coverage...hittem with a streak or fade with a big WR. If they play man. If you got a TE, killem. If your #1 WR is free, KILLEM! Put your #1 WR in the slot, KILLEM. Gotta think like an O-coord and create mismatches. Mismatches are the name of the game.

 

What if I am the mismatch

Thou shalt learn that the AI cheats and can magically bring five guys into any area as soon as you throw the ball.

 

Exactly, I swear if you throw the ball near any defender you are going to get picked for sure.

 

There are times when I threw to wide-open guys on the sidelines only to have a safety fly in from midfield and break up the pass.

 

I just had one of those games against the Ravens. No matter what I did on offense they answered. I abandoned the run midway through the 3rd quarter when I got down by 17 and the interceptions started. Laron Landry and Ed Reed are ridiculous.

...and to top it all off, Joe Flacco tore me a new one. Had a game earlier this week and I killed Tom Brady, he did nothing but Joe ****ing Flacco gets me for 300 and 3 TD's while completing 80% of his passes?

 

I think it's safe to say EA screwed the pooch on this one.

 

Was Madden 08 any better? I am thinking about buying it.

 

I have no idea. This is the first Madden I've ever played. At this rate, it's my last.

 

Funny, I never had that problem. Might need to start mixing up your plays a bit more. AI picks up on playcalling the past year or two. Me personally, I haven't really had any problems. I mix up the run/pass enough that I've NEVER even wondered where all the coverage comes from. You sure your not making bad throws into the zone?

Hell, if I had a problem with Madden it would probably be the Defensive AI in the flats. People throw to the TEs and HBs in the flats all day these days without punishment. Thats what gets me. But these magic Defenders....naw....haven't seen'em. But when you do see'em can you tellem I got some roster spots open.

 

08 actually didn't have the annoying CPU running out of bounds feature.

 

Yeahp, or I'll take Ronnie or Ricky up the middle say in a huge and I mean huge gap but it will close in a second and I'll get like 3 maybe 4 yards. If a player had the size of gaps that I'm talking about in the real NFL they would easily gain 20 yards. Its crazy.

 

If I mix up my plays any more I might as well get a job as a DJ.

An example of my playcalling on one series: 25 yard pass; ISO run right; Y Shallow Cross; ISO run; HB smash; TE post pattern; outside pitch; WR flanker.

My variety is NOT the problem.

Yah, I'm warming up to hit that trade thread as soon as I see what I end up with.

 

I think I'm pretty satisfied with my draft. I dont know how much trading I'll do if any.
