Getting bit causes an infection according to season 1. The infection kills you and you become a walker. I don't know if eating an infected person causes an infection similar to a bit though. I suppose it could though (pigs from last year).

sucks that they aren't all going to DC together. (EDIT, but I guess that was the way it had to be... Abraham and Rick, two Alphas, not going to mesh well together, we knew that) Oh and how did the Rick group know the Termites were already at the church?

Separating the group worked in the second half of the Fourth Season.

It re-united the same group that made it to Terminus first (Sans Bob and Sasha of course)

The Hunter storyline of the comics was the most satisfying so-far in the series. It's great seeing heels get their com-uppance in such a manor. In the comics Rick does a monologue about how he's pwned these fools. The TV Rick is far less talkative.

I'm really interested to see who was with Darryl at the end of the episode and who got Beth. What city was Beth in, in the preview? Very interesting stuff that's totally a part from the source material.

The pigs caused an infectious influenza type disease.

It's pretty clear that either cooking the virus or having it go through your digestive system doesn't kill you. Still didn't make that scene any less hilarious.

I think Darryl will be with Carol and Beth. And then you'll have at least 1 or more episodes of Beth's back story and escape/rescue?

I would imagine the next episode is all Beth and then we will get to Daryl and Carol the following episode.

It was a pretty smart guess. Why else would they turn Bob over in his condition? It was to rile them up and get them to retaliate. Gareth's group baited them into leaving the nest. Once Gareth and co. saw that their plan worked, they charged in knowing only a handful would be left inside the church. Gareth's small group could kill them easily and when Rick's group gets back, they can surprise them as they have the advantage of being in the church, while Rick and co. are outside. Simple divide and conquer.

Once again, Maggie peaces out w/o even asking about Beth... Really sloppy writing lol. I'm really hoping Beth's episode is strong, because so far the show is a pretty solid 3/3 this season.

No complaints from me so far from the current season. I'm curious to know who the next villain will be, besides the never ending flow of walkers. I'm guessing it's whoever kidnapped Beth.

You're probably right. But I'm thinking Beth's captors might be a one off. If Daryl is signaling to Beth to come out of the woods, then they'll only be around for that episode. I feel like that would get boring if her captors hang around too long. Like a redux of Woodberry where they had to go in as a tactical team and get their people back.

Honestly, I could do without a human villain for a bit. Build the zombies back up as a massive threat again. As Rick and co. head towards Washington, they'll be around cities. Which would change the human/zombie dynamic a bit given their larger numbers and closed quarters. In the open fields/woods they're not as big of a threat.

I'd love to see them pay homage to dawn of the dead for a few episodes inside a mall or something.

I think we'll see Morgan soon. That might be who was with Daryl. He was following those x's with the circles around them in the promo we saw earlier this season. Didn't the car that kidnapped Beth have a similar marking?

The markings on the trees were from Gareth's hunters. They said they left marks on trees as breadcrumbs to find their way back. He laughed and said he didn't know why since there's nothing to go back to. AKA BS reason to hook Morgan up w/the group.

Weak episode. I get it why they had to do it, but blah.

One small thing that bugged me...

When Beth and the laundry dude made a run for it, and the "cops" caught her, they gave up pursuing the dude who could barely walk? Common

    Beth episode..uhm yeah..

I still expect them to find an island, just my gut on it.

Glad to see Rick using the tools of the trade an Ak-47 and a silenced pistol?

Perhaps Carl telling him how his weakness is hurting everyone touched a nerve

given what the cops were doing to women like Joan, makes sense to me. Make sure your plaything doesn't get away.

but, it was a rather weak episode, let's hope it leads to something better with Darryl hopefully close behind Carol.

In that episode, I thought I heard them say that Beth was back in Atlanta, but that was not the Atlanta skyline. any idea what city they were in?

Someone on the talking dead said 17 months.I think it was Scott Gamble (EP/show runner) Seems about right. The jump from seasons 3-4 was an entire year. Seasons 1-3 could of easily have been 5-7 ish months.

    Two quick thoughts:

    1. What I really hated about this episode, is the caricatures. Everyone is evil... Basically, anytime Rick's group encounter someone, they're evil. And that's OK for the most part, since the show needs conflict. But I wish these groups had some meat and potatoes. For the most part, motivation for almost all of the "big bads" isn't realistic to me... Terminus was handled well. Same for Shane. But for the most part, the bad guys are just too one dimensional and uninteresting.

    2. Seeing Atlanta all ****ed up reminds me of an episode Frank Darabount wanted. A WWZ "yonkers" type of battle. I want that... Badly.

It would be interesting if the lady cop had been involved in that fight and we got to witness a flashback of a government vs. Zombie battle for which she was apart. Could of fleshed out her motivation better and given us an action packed onslaught episode.

I don't really like the show writes characters out... Any group besides Rick and co. are less interesting. This episode had a few good moments, but not enough to warrant cutting out Rick's group. Although the future of the show just got more interesting.

It did? This episode had a Gilligans Island feel to it.. you know, when you just get smacked in the face that they'll never get off the island, even though they'll spend the whole time leading up to it. I mean, the big reveal tonight about Eugene was a punch in the stomach. Even though, I think in the back of my mind I was in denial about him. That didn't stop me from wanting it all to be true. I mean, at the end of this thing, there could very well be a group of people who will save the world. The odds that it has anything to do with the characters on this show are completely gone.

What becomes of Glenn and Maggie's group now? Maybe that's what you meant.

Oh and is anyone else watching this on DirecTv? I'm getting a little sick of AMC vs DTV screwing up my Walking Dead viewing party. One thing to run commercials that the two sides are having contract negotiation issues.. another thing to have annoying flashing borders, top and bottom, DURING the show itself. FFS Oh and that's another thing........ is it just my hearing or are they editing the sound on swear words now? Think they did it twice tonight... WTF?

The more I think about it, you're right. Eugene's secret shouldn't have been a shocker considering what the CDC scientist Jenner said back in season 1 about there not being a cure. I kind of thought maybe they might take the show in a different direction since S1/TWD TV show was developed by Darabount and they fired him and went into a different direction. Without any kind of an endgame, it's going to be hard to build up any real interest... Last week, I said I didn't want Beth's captors to be too involved in the show because it was going to be a redux of Woodbury (invading and fighting). Now it appears that might happen. If group B isn't going to Washington, then they're going back to the church, right? They'll fight the cops and then... what? The future is more bleak than I initially thought. There has to be a carrot at the end of the stick and right now, there isn't any.

Maybe during the mid-season finale we'll get a taste of something interesting to come. Right now though, it's looking like more of the same.

Right now, the only thing I can think of as far as an end game, is that Eugene is actually correct, they need to get to Washington.

I had been guessing that Eugene was a fake for last few episodes. they indirectly hinted at it everytime he talked about the strategy for a cure. He was spouting knowledge, but none of it really seemed to make sense wrt reversing the infection. Too bad, it was nice to see that group driving towards something real. My only issue with this season so far is that all these potential huge issues are getting resolved way too quickly.

and as far as the DirectTV banners during the show, it is really friggin annoying.

My biggest question for this show, is why has no one attmpted to use a pilot, aka cowcatcher. I would think you could drive through any number of walkers with one.

I like the acting outside of Beth. I've tried to like her...just can't. Also Tyrese's sister struggles some but overall she's fine and getting into her groove.

The effects are cheesy. I laughed at last week when they got out of the bus. Re-wound the episode to show my gf the off-angle stabbings (there were a lot). It's most apparent when Michibe stabs someone with her sword. Hell, when what's his face was bashing in heads with his rifle last episode they blurred the entire butt off the gun :)

But that's part of it. They're cheap syntheyes effects and they fit. Smashing fake monsters doesn't have to be uber-realistic to be fun. It's actually probably better that way.

Yep, which is cool. It's not cheap to make dilapidated sets that are Eve changing, zombie makeup, blood, guts, etc. On top of gun shots (fake), explosions, etc.

The CDC explosion in season 1 was one of the worst I've seen on TV lol.

They manage their budget better. AMC is too cheap/poor to foot a bigger budget despite the ratings. The biggest reason why Frank Darabount was fired and why most seasons are specifically locked down to one area (farm, prison, etc...). I like how they're moving around now. We'll see how far that goes in the future.
